Here's what I posted in the "other" Favre thread...I'll just post it here too. Some of you are doing exactly what Viking management and fans want you to do...you're all upset about Favre signing with the Vikes. You're acting like you just got dumped by your girlfriend/wife for someone else. MOVE ON!!!! We have a great QB who leads an awesome offense and we have a new exciting defense. It's time for us to get excited about what the PACKERS can do, not what some other team might do. Rally around our team..don't take the bait the Vikes threw at you and bite on it. After all, are we not Packer fans? Peace out Huh? I'm not carping on him. Listened to bits of the press conference and if (and that's become the challenge with Brett) he's telling the truth, this has nothing to do with the Packers. I'm saying good for him. I wish it had worked out with us. His exit was handled poorly by both parties and hopefully it all gets smoothed over in the years ahead.

well he's got a 2 year deal. Will they win the Sb/ probably not, I'd say there at least a couple teams in the NFc anf AFC better than them, even if Brett is relatively healthy..

I think Minnesota is a mostly complete team. I think they were a mostly complete last year missing just one vital element and that element is Leadership. The Vikes have needed a general on the field to lead the cast of talented players for the last 2 years. I for one am excited to see Brett compete. I understand the angst of having him to play for the Vikings. It would be like Elway playing for the Raiders or KC, but thankfully Elway went out on top and I think that is what Brett wants. Should that really be held against him? Good observation, but if you're counting on the missing leadership piece coming in this late and making a difference, I think it's odd. I think the Vikings were fine without him and a little bit better with him. Super Bowl? I guess we'll have to play the games. I will say this. If Favre plays like Elway in his last season, could be a Super Bowl. If he tries to do too much? Not so good.

I hope Favre has a nice season, gets some of those last records and stays healthy.
Do I want him to win? Nope! Especially vs. the Packers.
And after further review, the Vikings and Bears still Suck!

I truly think the NFC North is going to be the most fun division to watch this year and in the coming years.
We are lucky to have so much talent near us. Cripes..I may have to start attending these games!
Not being a die hard Packer Fan, I can kind of set back and enjoy the play that is unfolding between Rodgers, Cutler and Favre. more objectively.
Of course, if this was an AFC West type set up, I would be on pins and needles.
Thankfully, I don't have high expectations of the Broncos this year, so I will follow the NFC north closely as a supplement.

Think about it like this. The Vikings just told their QBs that they aren't good enough to compete in the NFL. It also means that one of them has to be cut. I wonder if Favre will even make the cut to be honest. And if he does, what message is being sent to the three guys they've got? It's actually kind of funny! T Jack is a goner.

I agree Adam. He's a joke. About the only good thing about him is how they kept trying to make him their QB, and how some of their fans kept saying he was on his way to being a great QB.
I never bought it.

I don't care about Favre right now. I am not going to forget the years he gave us but I will bring up those memories and love him again when he is on the stage in Canton. I am tired of this saga. He has retired twice in 11 months and not missed a single game. I watched his press conference and he said some things that make me not as upset with him, but he doesn't look good in purple. I truly believe he will get an eye opener when he runs out of the tunnel in Lambeau. I don't think he really understands how important the Packer nation considers this stuff. That being said it is still his choice and I respect his decision.
The thing I care about is our team. If this 3-4 works out I believe we are still a d**n good team. We are the team with the up and coming star under center. The guy who proved to everyone last year that he is a leader and has made this whole thing so much easier. That is what I care about. Our Packers. The rest is meaningless right now.

It will be interesting to watch how the QB situation plays out in Minny. Favre is going to start - no question about it. He didn't sign on to sit on the bench. The only way he signed this deal was if it was clear that he didn't have to compete for the job. It was guaranteed to him, at least initially.
They need to cut or trade one of the incumbent 3. Just a year ago, Booty was the savior, the amazing deal they got in the draft courtesy of the Pack. What they found out was that he didn't have an NFL caliber arm. Jackson has the arm, but not the head for the game. Rosenfells is new, looks decent, but has never been a starter on a winning team. They have to cut one and it will be a tough choice. I suppose they could try to squirrel away Booty on the PS, but I'm not sure of the eligibility rules since he was on the roster all of last year. They may also have just decided that their trade-up for Jackson was a Sander-like mistake and just cut their losses on him.
Mark Shlereth (sp?) had a scathing commentary on Childress last night on Sports Center and you wonder if he's right. Two weeks ago, the book was closed on Favre according to Chilly. However, behind the team's back, he keeps calling Brett. Suddenly the book isn't closed. Is that the kind of accountability, honesty, integrity, etc., you want from your head coach? He predicts the Vikes don't even make the playoffs.
Personally, I hope Brett does well in the sense that he doesn't get hurt and doesn't look like a complete fool out there. I do however hope he loses every game he plays in from this day on. After all, he's a Viking now.

Maybe the Viqueens are looking at Brett as a training tool for Booty look how well Rodgers turned out just a thought.

2008 Stats re Minnesota Vikings Offense:
43 SACKS (7th most in the NFL) & 28.2 Pass attempts/game (28th in the NFL) -- It is hard for Favre to pass when he is on his back.
-6 Turnovers (24th in the NFL) -- Favre's chronic interceptions WILL NOT improve this stat.

Just saw the press conference on yahoo. Favre committed the ULTIMATE faux paux and said "REAL PACKER FANS WILL UNDERSTAND." No, real Favre fans will understand. Packer fans I dont think so. My neighbors are dumping number 4 gear faster than a sinking ship dumping ballast. There is a palpable ense of anger. Why? Favre has committed the ultimate sin without realizing it. He has equated himself to the packers. He has made himself THE PACKER. Think about it."PACKER fans will understand." In his mind he is,was and always will be THE PACKERS. And all true PACKER fans should be rooting for him. Because the Packers just went to Minny. Favre feels the "oraganization" isnt the real Packers. He feels that HE IS THE REAL PACKER. He has(in his own mind, thought and deed)defined himself as the Packers. And following that logic the real Packer Fans(since favre is the REAL PACKER)should now be rooting for Minny. Literally a legend in his own mind. The Organization is too blame in that during the Sherman era and to some extent MM Favre was allowed to be the LEGEND. He attended practices and camp on his schedule. He commented openly about players who should and shouldnt play or be picked up. He was allowed to bow out of Mini camps and such. He publicly insulted Sherman on Monday Night Kick-off after the win against the Chargers a few years back and NOTHING happened. Basically since Holmgren left nobody has been reminding Brett that he is just a player on a TEAM. During the days of the Roman empire a victorious General would have a parade in front of him would come the captured soldiers, treasures, and cheering throngs. The General in a chariot would ride just behind with a slave holding a golden wreath above his head. Amidst the shouts and hails of the throngs the slave would whisper "remember you are mortal". Somebody forgot to tell that to Favre.
RANGERS LEAD THE WAY!
