Just comes down to taste really. Many of you know I am a dork when it comes to this stuff. Well Mr. Tmwight is as well. He also knows that Spider-Man is easily my fav superhero hence the shot in his post . I like Spider-Man because when I got into him he was just a real character with real problems. In fact after thinking about it long enough I would say that I almost like Peter Parker more than the character of Spider-Man, although he is bad ass. I tend to be more of a Marvel person. I do like the Justice League, but I like the Avegers a little bit more. Watchmen is easily one of the best trade paper backs out there though, and everyone should read it! I am a big fan of Batman too. I really only read Spider-Man and Batman comics, although I have read some Superman ones before and they were alright. I would say another big reason I like Spider-Man and Batman is they have the best villains. Green Goblin and Joker stories are awesome, not to mention the other characters. Some of the other good heroes just do not have a good rogue gallery and that's why they can be a little weak in their own comics. However in a setting like a Justice League, or a Avengers they are pretty cool. I never liked Superman until I saw Kill Bill. They probably give the best explanation of why you should like Superman that I have ever heard. "As you know, I’m quite keen on comic books. Especially the ones about superheroes. I find the whole mythology surrounding superheroes fascinating.Take my favorite superhero, Superman. Not a great comic book. Not particularly well-drawn. But the mythology… The mythology is not only great, it’s unique.
Now, a staple of the superhero mythology is, there’s the superhero and there’s the alter ego. Batman is actually Bruce Wayne, Spider-Man is actually Peter Parker. When that character wakes up in the morning, he’s Peter Parker. He has to put on a costume to become Spider-Man. And it is in that characteristic Superman stands alone.
Superman didn’t become Superman. Superman was born Superman. When Superman wakes up in the morning, he’s Superman. His alter ego is Clark Kent. His outfit with the big red “S” - that’s the blanket he was wrapped in as a baby when the Kents found him. Those are his clothes. What Kent wears - the glasses, the business suit - that’s the costume. That’s the costume Superman wears to blend in with us.
Clark Kent is how Superman views us. And what are the characteristics of Clark Kent? He’s weak… He’s unsure of himself… He’s a coward.
Clark Kent is Superman’s critique on the whole human race."
That made me look past the fact that he is a boy scout and can be annoying and really like the character. Not to mention him and Batman go together real well in regard to the Justice League. So basically I am a dork and like a lot of super hero stuff, but Spidey is my fav. However I still say Batman can beat anyone and am willing to defend it.

Great post. Batman is my favorite, and not just because Heath Ledger kicked arse as the Joker in the Dark Knight. Batman is the ultimate human, who has trained himself to the ,llimits of human endurance and has immense financial resources by which to acquire information or knowledge or whatever he's trying to get. I grew up on the 90s Batman Tv series, which was excellent and brought to mind many of the old superheros of radio; the Grey Ghost anyone..

Best Superhero is Wonder Woman of course. That golden lasso of truth, no weapon is more powerful than the truth.

That is a battle of the Physical vs Intelligence. Superman has the strength, the speed, and the heat vision among other things. Bats has the Intelligence the martial art skill, the gadgets, and a bank account. I think he would win because he already has kryptonite. If you read his comics, watch the cartoons or even the movies you see he is always one or two steps ahead. He is mentally unbalanced and I don't doubt he has kryptonite for a just in case. Of course if he doesn't Supes would destroy him. I just think Superman would try to avoid the fight in his typical boy scout manner and Batman would sucker him into a trap. Then pull out some Kryptonite brass knuckles and proceed to beat him down.

Well, with what he's been through and the people he fights, yeah, Bats has a few loose. and in order to tap Superman's power down they had to add a few things to the krpytonite. one question thats always bugged me. If Superman is normal while under the influence of a red star, and near god-like under a yellow, how strong would he be under a blue star? if you watched the old Superfriends cartoons, the strength ratio is clearly noted. Red- no power, orange half power, yellow full power.

Interestingly enough (God here comes the geekiness) Bats does have kryptonite, Superman gave it to him. He has a kryptonite "ring" with the understanding that if Superman got crazy (ie. red kryptonite) than Batboy could use it against him. Would Bats stoop to that level and use it? Not much for a hero or a man if he does try to use it...
Superman could hit him with freeze breath before he even got close, let's have a Batsicle (Batman Popsicle). Superman could hear Batman coming from 6,000 miles away.

Nick, Thats a good question... I am no where near a Superman expert so I would have no clue. Also, wanted to give you props on the dropping of the Batman TAS. I have the series on DVD, and it still holds strong as being one of the best Super Hero cartoons ever. Also, I don't know if anyone is into X-men, another great one for Marvel , but the X-men 90's cartoon first two volumes are coming out in March.

True, but would Supes do that? I still think he would be trying to talk and I also don't think Bats would go at him with just a ring. I think he would lure Supes into a area filled with Kryptonite.
I don't know if Bats would do it though, because I think he really does respect Superman. Like I said they are the best part of the Justice League, followed closely by Flash and Green Lanter.
This fight would only happen if Supes went rogue for some reason.

If Supes goes nut though, as the comic books show, none of the other superheros can handle him on thier own, he's just too powerful. The ring is there as a failsafe measure "i go kooky, use this to subdue me..' sort of thing. And I remember the X-men 90s series, my favorite was Gambit ands his deck of exploding gaming cards..

Sounds a bit like "Nerds R Us"... That said I'd have to go with either the Fantastic Four or Spiderman,,,,
So, when does someone start a Star Trek thread
