It is what it is, I'm afraid.
What's interesting is how many black people have the last name of Jefferson, and can actually claim to be related to the past President.

Yeah, and Sally Heming's, the black slave that Thomas Jefferson slept with, children are accepted by everybody as being white. WRONG. All that you have to do is follow the paper trail. For instance, how much did Sally Hemings children benefit because Thomas Jefferson were their father? Not one cent. Yet, IF these children were white, we are talking about lots and lots and lots of money. Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings: A Brief Account The claim that Thomas Jefferson fathered children with Sally Hemings, a slave at Monticello, entered the public arena during Jefferson's first term as president, and it has remained a subject of discussion and disagreement for two centuries. Based on documentary, scientific, statistical, and oral history evidence, the Thomas Jefferson Foundation (TJF) Research Committee Report on Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings (January 2000) remains the most comprehensive analysis of this historical topic. Ten years later, TJF and most historians believe that, years after his wife’s death, Thomas Jefferson was the father of the six children of Sally Hemings mentioned in Jefferson's records, including Beverly, Harriet, Madison, and Eston Hemings. DNA Evidence and ResponseThe results of DNA tests conducted by Dr. Eugene Foster and a team of geneticists in 1998 challenged the view that the Jefferson-Hemings relationship could be neither refuted nor substantiated . The study--which tested Y-chromosomal DNA samples from male-line descendants of Field Jefferson (Thomas Jefferson's uncle), John Carr (grandfather of Jefferson's Carr nephews), Eston Hemings, and Thomas Woodson--indicated a genetic link between the Jefferson and Hemings descendants. The results of the study established that an individual carrying the male Jefferson Y chromosome fathered Eston Hemings (born 1808), the last known child born to Sally Hemings. There were approximately 25 adult male Jeffersons who carried this chromosome living in Virginia at that time, and a few of them are known to have visited Monticello. The study's authors, however, said "the simplest and most probable" conclusion was that Thomas Jefferson had fathered Eston Hemings. www.monticello.org/site/plantation-and-slavery/thomas-jefferson-and-sally-hemings-brief-account

My wife knows one of the descendents. She worked with her, in Rockford. A well educated woman, and proud of her heritage, and connection to Jefferson and Hemings. She feels no shame, and considers herself neither black nor white, but a Jefferson, an American, and the descendent of one of America's early Presidents.
When she was young, and in school, she told a teacher in 5th grade that she was a Jefferson descendent. The teacher smiled at her, and said; "My dear, that can't be true. You're black, Jefferson was white!"
My wife's friend wondered if that woman lived long enough to realize she was wrong. My wife's friend did the DNA test, and was a match.
A few years ago, she attended a family gathering of Jefferson here in the Midwest. There were several black people there, including her family, and the whites who attended greeted them with open arms, as if they were long lost cousins.
It's time for others to open their arms too. It's been going on way too long! Hatred, racial mistrust, and racism has no place in the society of man.

I agree.
BTW, I have lots of friends who went to UVA and they refuse to discuss TJ and Sally Hemings. Many of my friends from the South REFUSE to believe that TJ slept with any of his slaves, DESPITE DNA evidence that proves otherwise.
I honestly believe that PC would enjoy his conversation with most of my southern, misguided and still fighting the Civil War, friends.

I can't stand stupid people and only tolerate them when they serve my political purposes.

Buuuuuutttttttt, based on PC's belief of Obama NOT BEING BLACK, WHY did the NAACP react this way. Romney booed by NAACP as he jabs Obama, health careThe presumptive GOP presidential nominee has an uphill battle with African Americans, who have voted Democrats into the White House for decades. In 2008, Obama won 96% of the African-American vote on his way to making history as the nation's first black president.content.usatoday.com/communities/onpolitics/post/2012/07/mitt-romney-naacp-speech-/1Imagine that..96% of the African-American vote. Also, making Obama the nation's first black president. How WE love when PC's Borg programming forces him to try to re-write history and to do so, by honestly believing what he is trying to have others believe.

A point to ponder.
When 96% of a specific ethnic group votes strictly for a person of their own ethnic group, it's pretty difficult saying they aren't doing it based on race.

PC, another way of looking at this 96% vote..Since you DO NOT consider Obama to be the first BLACK elected as US President and that the majority of blacks DO NOT consider Obama black..then Romney sure as Hades is not WHITE IF he DOES NOT receive at least 96% of the WHITE vote.

Dude. Way to distort. Of Course they are going to vote for Obama because he is more black than McCain or Romney. What Freeman and other blacks are saying is that Obama is not a black man per se. Yes, he has black blood in him but once a full blooded black person is elected President, it will be he or she that will be the first black President and that is how history will record it. And just to put things in simple terms for you so that you understand why black people are voting for Obama; a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup isn't a chocolate bar, but it does have more chocolate in it than a cup of cottage cheese.

"but once a full blooded black person is elected President"I hate to break it to ya, but only a very small percentage of people are "FULL BLOODED." In the words of Bill Murray from the movie Stripes, WE ARE ALL MUTTS.

I'm also reminded that if we believe in the teachings of religion, we are all descendents of two people in the beginning. That means there's at least a few threads of all races in each of us.

I'll be glad to take the rock in this instance.

Also, I am sure that you will remember that voters with higher IQ's vote Democrat. ;D

Like a typical liberal, you constantly refute your own words.
First, Republicans were born under a rock, now you will have it that they were birthed in a different manner.
And your latter statement is completely false, but that is understandalbe given the messenger.
