How about the fact that Favre was named a captain? that strikes me as odd considering how long he has been there.

That surprised me too. I guess the players were making a statement that they're solidly behind Favre. They're the ones that elected him.

The Jets need a leader on Offense and Brett fits the bill perfectly. The Jets gain is still the Packers loss.

i dont know how favre wouldnt be an offensive captain...the quarterback is the leader on the offense, especially one who has been playing the position at the pro level for 17 years.

Is Aaron Rodgers a captain? Is he a 17 year veteran on an awful offense from the year before?

No but he is the quarterback, and the QB is the leader of the offense.

Not being a smart arse... But is Jackson a Captian on the Vikes?
And taking it further... How many QB's actually are captians? It seems like from what I remember most of the times at least during the regular season Quarterback are on the sidelines during the "Introduction of Team Captians" during the coin toss..... I may be wrong

I don't think your info is quite accurate.
Chad Greenway was on the radio today and I'm pretty sure the defensive capt is not a weekly thing. EJ Henderson is the defensive capt. Heath Farwell was the ST's captain the last two years but since he is on IR this season, I think Longwell is the capt. this year. Didn't hear about the offense, but I'm pretty sure it's not a weekly thing.

Here's an interesting tidbit. The sale of Favre's #4 Jets jersey over the last month has exceeded the total sales of Packer jerseys with all numbers during the same period. It has also caused crashes to websites at NFL headquarters for orders, and the Jets official website. Some jersey manufacturers have actually switched to producing 100% Favre jerseys because of the demand, and will be working until nearly October to fill the back-log on requests on those alone, and that includes working full O.T. shifts on Saturdays. I certainly hope we don't fall in the outside revenue area which Murphy and Thompson deemed as "essential" for them to be considered good managers. If they failed to recognize this little phenomenon, what else have they messed up on, because they fail to recognize the significance. I also ask the question as to why there is no cap program this year for charity? Obviously there was a lot of outside interest in it, but exactly what incentive has the Packers removed from the idea, that makes it no longer worth the effort? Then there's the issue of the new "ticket manager" program. Essentially they intend getting a strangle hold on the tickets, and they can dole them out to people who they decide are "worthy" of having them? What does that mean for Fuzzy's, and the others, who have had quality package deals? An insider told me that they are also going to raise the price of parking at Lambeau. As you know, it's already "reserved," but they may use a "licensing agreement" to bring in more money. I guess they are looking for ways to pay all those "Vice Presidents" that Murphy announced as necessary to keep the organization running.
