I've enjoyed my dream. Retired, enjoying life all summer in a golf car community, and just plain having fun.
I didn't think it could get better for a summer. Ride around on my golf car in the evening, talking to people, enjoying the evening air, and just plain getting out and about.
Now - It has gotten better, believe it or not!
I'm working! So, how could work have a positive effect on what I was doing? Pretty simple. I'm doing exactly the same thing as I was doing, but now they pay me to do it! That's right! I get paid to ride around on my golf cart and talk to people during the evening! I get to do it four evenings a week, and even though the pay isn't tremendous, they even furnish me a golf cart for the job. I get to wear one out that belongs to someone else! ;D
The job is security. Just ride around, keep an eye on things during the evening hours, go home and go to bed, and my DVR captures anything I really wanted to watch, so I can watch it later. I'm supposed to stop and talk to people, and be an "emissary of good will" which I kind of like!
It's like right now. I have the Packers preseason game on. I captured it on DVR last night, and am watching it now, as I type this.
Not happy though. Wynn just blew an easy sack! Second quarter! Argggghhhhh!
Life is good! I'm going to enjoy living here even more each summer.

Nah! I don't need it. It's pretty quiet compared to when I was a cop.
But, at least we were busy enough all night that the 8-hours went fast.
After all these years, there's something I have to say.
I missed it. I really enjoyed being a cop, and quiet honestly, I enjoyed the action tonight, and there was some.
Just nothing real serious like when I was actually a cop. Man! Those were the good old days!

I went out and bought a Maglight 6 cell LED flashlight today. It's a converted version of the conventional 6 cell Maglight, and extremely heavy.
The one I bought is converted for police work, and includes a 9 LED array instead of the 3 to 6 array LEDs as normal.
The cost was over $100. I nearly choked!
But, I wanted something that not only worked great as a flashlight, but had an added dimension of a defensive weapon, and this heavier than hell bad boy is exactly what I wanted. I had the same thing when I was a cop, just not LED.
When I got back home, I saw the Manager out here, and told him what it cost. He told me to follow him to the office, and he wrote out a check for the whole amount, and called it "personal equipment expenses." ;D
I can live with that type of attitude. He gained my respect, because he knew how essential a piece of equipment like that really is.
Anyhow... I'm really enjoying this "job."

T-A-S-E-R Pulllleeeeeeasse tell me that you carry a taser gun. You know, have taser will travel, A taser a day will keep the doctor away, nothing quite like getting tased first thing in the morning to get the heart pumping, the lungs bursting... Do you drive the golf cart with a keg of beer in the back or at the very least drive around wearing a beer guzzler helmet? www.amazon.com/Beer-Guzzler-Helmet-Yellow/dp/B000QV9XDINothing finer then a law enforcement officer drinking beer and/or booze 24/7 armed with a taser.

Tazers are actually becoming a thing of the past in the Midwest. There have been deaths due to them, and various problems related to the injuries they cause. Law enforcement agencies are dumping them. A well delivered jab in the solar-plexus, or across the joint between arm and shoulder with a flashlight, will disable anyone long enough to gain control over them. There's no need to electrocute them. I remember one humongous dude, when I was a cop, who stood about 6-10, and went about 350# deciding he wanted to square off with me. I used the flashlight to the solar-plexus when he moved in on me. When he was doubled over, I got behind him, and cuffed him. Later on... I was glad it worked, because when he was being transported to the station by another officer, he trashed the entire backseat of the squad car with his feet, including kicking out both side windows and the rear window. It took four guys to keep him in check, as they got him into the station. They added shackles on his ankles, and chained his hands down to a belt chain, also attached to his ankles. He was still kicking around. What started out as simple assault, when I arrested him, ended up in criminal vandalism, assaulting two police officers, resisting arrest, and an 18 month hitch at a medium security prison in Illinois, because of his penchant for violence. To treat him for his cuts and abrasions due to his actions in the car, we had to hold him down while a doctor sedated him, so he could check his wounds for glass, and fix him up. The Doctor would not go near him unless he was unconscious. The simple assault would have been a $40 fine, and just a misdemeanor. Oops!

My brother LOVED being tazed when training US soldiers and US security reps for US Corporations in Iraq. In fact, all of the soldiers who my brother trained had to be tazed so that they could experience its affects. I like the electric stim. machine at home and at physical therapy. Often I will turn the machines to its highest and watch my muscles in my leg or arm move by themselves and my hair stand up. Nothing quite like being electrifried. ;D

I remember when my brother was in his early 20's and somebody in a local gang had broken into our house and stole some of my brother's stuff, my brother captured the gang member, brought him to our house, placed his feet into a container of water, tore the plug from a lamp and placed the exposed lamp wires into the water. I did not witness this, but when my sister told me what had happend, I My brother had ZERO tolerance re people who either stole from him or disrespected him. Tis why my brother enjoyed his life in Iraq so much. Of course my brother is a Republican and thought that Cheney's waterboarding was a stroke of genius. We Dems are much more compassionate and try very, very hard not to act as judge, jury end executioner.
