16.25 miles elliptical in only 3 workouts, within past 5 days & 10.5 hours of water aerobics in past 6 days = 13.25 hours of workouts in the past 6 days. Also, I am going sooooooooo fast on the elliptical that I am average 220 strides/minute, at incline level 5 and 148 heart beat for between a 52 - 65 minute workout. Many people at the Chinn Center complement me on how fast and long I am doing my elliptical workouts, especially since most regular users of the elliptical often do not average more then 160 strides per/minute.
Please note, I usually take 1-2 days off per week due to help relax and regenerate my muscles. However, this is the strongest since the 9/98/08 car accident that I have felt and I am trying to guage when I should add strengthening exercise to my workouts and when I am able to remain pain free without having to do water aerobics following cardio & weight strengthening exercises.
As a result to ALL that I have learned from Physical Therapy 'land & water exercises,' I have created a new successful rehab routine which is guaranteed to significantly increase recovery from hip, knee, back...surgeries.
First, water aerobics. Initially, start with stretching, moving the surgical part, light strengthening exercises. Next, you increase stretching, mobility and strengthening.+ jacuzzi. (EVERY DAY)
Second, incorporate cardio conditioning, such as elliptical, treadmill...(maximum 10% increase per week re distance) + you continue with water aerobics + jacuzzi. (EVERY OTHER DAY)
Any significant pain, reduce cardio conditioning distance(s).
Third, incorporate weight lifting strengthening (legs, back & upper body) exercises + cardio conditioning + water aerobics + jacuzzi. (EVERY OTHER DAY)TRANSITION/EXPERIMENT FULL RECOVER FROM SURGERY TIME
Fourth, weight lifting + cardio conditioning (EVERY OTHER DAY)
Fifth, water aerobics + jacuzzi (EVERY OTHER DAY)
ANAYLYSIS TIME:
Any lingering adverse affects?
IF no, continue with this routine for overall health improvement & FULL recovery from surgery.
