In the NJ race, independents who voted for Barack Obama, voted for Govenor-Elect Christie, 2-1.

You should read some of the policy Corzine introduced and you'll see why. He actually made conservative moves that rankled people. They chose the man they thought would do the most for them "now," not on a program spread over years.
