I have often referred to myself as a Clinton Democrat.
I know there are many supporters here of Obama.
So..are you a Clinton Democrat or an Obama Democrat?
Is there a difference?

Good question. I'm not certain we can compare them directly though, because of the circumstances surrounding the beginning of their Presidencies. Maybe, in three years or so, we can start to make honest comparisons.

That's a pretty bland statement. Are you a Reagan Democrat? A blue dog Democrat? A leftist Democrat? Pinko?

I've mentioned this before, but I remember, when Reagan was in office, how most Republicans felt he was on the extreme right. In fact, he was so far right that they had problems with a lot of his austerity programs.
Then Bush Sr. came along. He was in the middle to the right, but had a bit of a problem reining in his own party, because he was a religious man. Slowly they slid further right until they ended up so far right as a party that Clinton was elected.

Actually Perot stole more votes that would have gone Democratic than he did from the Republicans.
Right-wingers have tried to make it look like they should have won the Presidency by making statements to the contrary.
But those of us who know better realize that his vote base was almost equal from both parties, if anything, slightly more Dems voting for him than Republicans.

By the way. I agreed with Perot on no NAFTA. It never should have happened!

PC, Very good question and topic. As TW indicated, it is still too early. As a former member of Clinton's Welfare Reform Working Group, who was part of helping end welfare dependency by helping to train and educate those on welfare, as well as, draft and pass new and improved child support legislation which would lessen the financial burden of many who were on welfare, Clinton did help many sole custodial parents and their children. Woooooo Hoooooo!!!!! This is just a small example of many things that the Clinton Admin. did to help Americans. Personally, I have always wanted our President's to have a certain moral integrity and when Clinton repeatedly committed adultery, that was disturbing to me. I have always felt that our leaders should respect and honor God's laws, as much as is humanly possible and failure to do so, could have dire consequences. I do not view Obama with having such problems and have tremendous trust in Obama regarding his moral integrity. I have always seen Hitlery to be a pain in the arse, who simply is selfish, egotistical and full of hate towards men. Her conduct towards the secret service was appalling. I would be hard pressed to vote for Hitlery over practically any Republican. Michelle Obama has done an outstanding job as First Lady.

I have to agree with twmwight. A Democrat is a democrat.
Now in my opinion, Bill Clinton was not a democrat, but a very brilliant politician. Unlike Obama, Clinton would move his position to suit his needs of success.
Obama on the other hand is a true progressive. He believes and, I agree, that Government can better the lives of all by creating policies and programs and make all citizens beholden to one another despite social and financial "caste."
With the right people in positions of power, regulations can be put in place to keep greed from destroying the lives of many by a handful of misguided capitalist.
