So was the Million or so it cost the US to fly Obama to fight a losing battle for the Olympics worth it?
If it hadn't been Chicago... Would the President have made such an effort? Or was it just another photo op for the Talk Show President?

It was a shame what Obama did. Why just think of how many jobs the Olympics would have created and how all the visitors to the area would have brought a big boost to a slumping economy in that area. We wouldn't want that to happen. I mean really, just let people around the world think the US sucks. Let's not be proud of our country and respectful of our president. Yea, that's the ticket.

I was hoping Chicago would land the gig. Southeast Wisconsin would have had shirttail benefits. I was in Vancouver/Whistler last summer and saw the infrastructure improvements.
Jobs alone would increase prior to the Olympics but during the Olympics life would have been interesting.

It's too bad people would prefer playing the political game than getting on board a project that could have acted as a stimulus for the midwest.
It shows just how little some people really care about others, if it doesn't fit their political agenda.

I can't believe you are all still blaming Bush for this countrys problems 9 m0 into the Obama administration! Unbelievable! It's Bush's fault we didn't get the Olympics? C'mon! If we had gotten them would you have given Bush any credit?
Having said that, it's great news for Chicago that this fell through. The olympics are NOT a moneymaker. As I understand it, it cost bejing Billions to host the olympics. Vancouver, as i understand it, is still in the red from when they hosted the winter games a few years ago. The gov in Chicago is already in the Red and considering the structures and the infrastructure that would have to be built would have buried Chicago in debt! The security alone would have cost millions! Losing the Olympics is a GOOD thing for Chicago!

World opinion of the US had an effect on the decision. It's just like the decisions made in the UN, which eliminated the US from the Human Rights Council, and other areas where we've been a fixture.
The fact is, this is still backlash from the Bush years, where he abused his powers and tried to bully the UN into doing what he told them to do.
Yes, I blame Bush for things like this, and that same opinion of the US carries over into the world of Olympic decisions. We've lost credibility around the world due to Bush, and we're going to pay for some time.

Does anyone listen to Press Conferences anymore or do they still make up crap to suit their own political bias. It was flatly said that the reason Chicago didn't make it pass the first round was due to "homers" sitting on the IOC. It had nothing to do with world standing. If it does, then the world is not very forgiving after Obama whole heartedly apoligized to everyone. That's not very Christian of the world. Oops..my bad..the ones Obama was apoligizing too were his Islamic brethren. Also, Obama didn't go to Copenhagen just to cheer for Chicago. He was there to meet General McCrystal on the tarmac. Can the schit get any deeper?

Believe what you want. The world press is singing a different story.

It's pretty obvious I believe what I want. ;D
I am glad the IOC listened to the people of Chicago and did not award the budget busting Olympics to them. As most will agree, its important to do what the people want...right?
The people understand you can't pay down debt by borrowing money that can't be possibly paid back.
Additionally, I am sure the violence in Chicago had nothing to do with the Olympics not being awarded.

You're still not listening. Over 70% of the people wanted it.
Of course, since you're "anti-Obama," you wanted them to fail.
I pity those who wish ill on others, and hope they fail for their own political beliefs.

No. I am very upset that Bush coudln't get the Olympics here, since it was his failure that the Olympics weren't awarded. The suit in the WH had nothing to do with it obviously so don't know why you are dragging him into this conversation. Bush failed us again. d**n that man! Again, please read the WGN, Chicago Tribune Poll(thats a local poll in Chicago just in case you didn't know.) The support to host the olympics was no fricken 70 percent...LMAO You keep using the numbers that makes Obama look super-human. The rest of us will use facts.

Do you think Super Prez and the Hall of Justice will stay intact in 2010? ;D
Thankfully, this will be the last election cycle that I have to listen to pissy pants Reid.
