Bishop and Rodgers were the stars for the night. I have always liked Bishop hope he gets to play more as a LB. Me too. Though not the standout type like his older brother Desmond Bishop, Bishop's younger sibling (OLB Devin Bishop: 6-1, 238 lbs) is a senior and projected to start for a very talent laden defense at Cal. Going into his third year for the Pack, I am hoping any learning curve issues will have been resolved for the athletic/play making Bishop. So far, so good, to his transition to the 3-4 defense.

I was impressed with Will Blackmon as well. From what I saw he had very good coverage last night - even on the first drive vs. Furrey he was in position to make the play. Give props to Quinn for making a great throw.
Also, Blackmon showed the ability to rush the passer. The forced fumble was more than impressive. He might really benefit from the new scheme.

From what I saw last night... The only reason the Browns didn't score was due to Edwards & the holding penalty on their FG. Quinn's pass hit him square in the hands and he dropped it like he did so much in 2008.
Sutton was moving d-linemen back when getting hit last night. Nice performance. Rodgers looked sharp. Finley had a good game. Even Lee's catch and hurdle in the red zone looked good.
As for the backup qb's: Flynn still holds onto the ball too long. He's OK, but he's a HUGE drop off as a 2nd QB. Brohm for all his touting in college is still showing he's struggling with the timing routes. Wouldn't be shocked that we pick up some vet castoff and let him go.
Poppinga and Collins were at fault for the lack of contain on Cribbs' run. Kampy played OK. Hoping the next 3 games help him get more confidence in his position. I agree he can be a weak link in the pass coverage. Hawk is just underwhelming at his present position.
First line D got consistent pressure that caused 2 picks and almost got a 3rd.
Great first step for the team, but tempering my enthusiasm because the Browns really do stink..

GREAT effort and win by the Packers. The Packers looked sooooo fast, in better condition and better coached/prepared then the Browns. In fact, the Packers completely dominated the Browns in all phases of the game. Getting a shutout in its first game -- WOW. With the exception of ALL of the freakin penalties, I was impressed by the overall play of the offensive line. Also, Packers running backs looked really good and I was particularly impressed with Sutton. Shutting down the run seemed awesome. LB pass coverage seemed weak and the Browns seemed to have too many players who appeared to be wide opened during their passing game. The Packers did not have much pressure on the QB during the first half, but seemed to pressure the Browns QB's better in the second half. Brohm seems to require lots of work and appears to have a long way to go, while Flynn played a very good game. FOUR INT's by a team without Woodson and Harris was incredible. Penalties on both of the side of the ball is FRUSTRATING and I wished that Crosby should have made either one of his long kicks. The Packers 1st, 2nd and 3rd units outplayed the Browns 1st, 2nd and 3rd units and it looked like a good team playing a bad team. Overall, the Packers entire team earned very high grades. Earning a shutout for its first game, the defense deserves the praise of ALL Packers fans. Although the defense needs to continue to improve, its overall performance is very comforting.

I was there and have not watched it on TV yet, but I too loved Bishop and Sutton! I even met Sutton after the game along with Dietric-Smith, one other lineman...name escapes me, and Dom Capers. More on Dom in a minute...
I too noticed that Brohm just holds the ball too long! Flynn is much more on with the timing of the offense. I was thinking, could we get a draft pick for him from a team searching for QB's and then just keep two QB's? For that we could maybe keep 4 RB's...just a thought. I think we have a got 4 really good RB's in Grant, Jackson, Wynn, and Sutton. Lumpkin is good, but after last year's injury I would be more apt to give Sutton a chance if I had to chose. Plus I believe Lumpkin could be stashed on the practice squad a little more easily.
So I waited a long time...like stupid long...to meet Dom Capers. His car was parked right at the fence, so I was basically 5 feet away from him. I said, "Good game coach I like that 3-4!" He looked out from behind his car door that he opened, looked right at me and said, "Thanks," while smiling. He then was called over to another SUV that had the tailgate down with some guys sitting there drinking a beer. He first said he shouldn't drink any before driving, but then he went over there and had a few sips, some laughs and came back towards his car. Before he got to the car he Autographed my hat and some other stuff of the handfull of other fans that were still there. While he was doing that I asked him, "Isn't this so much better that New England?" He smiled and said, "I like it better." I then asked him if Raji was going to get to play next game and he said, "Were going to try to get him in there for some plays." Then I questioned whether Raji was in fact going to play NT or RE or LE as I had heard reports of. He responded, "Well yeah he was playing some end, but we move him in to tackle for most 3d down plays." I was surprised at the candid details that he answered me with. That was a really big highlight of my trip! He was very personable and when he got in his Hybrid Chevy Tahoe I said, "Thanks coach! Super Bowl now Super Bowl!!!!"
By the way, on of the guys sitting in the back of that SUV...Aaron Rodgers. We only recognized him right before he got in his Toyota Tundra (Very fitting). Too bad he didn't come over, but it was a great day anyway!!!

First teams look great. Hawk is out of his depth it seems. Kampmann did real well. Much better than I thought he would play seems to adapt well. what can you say about the first team O? everything clicked. Flynn looks solid. Brohm is still reading the D's. Hangs onto the ball too long. Penalties a problem biut overall the team did well. Pack isgoing to score points this year. Gran looked good. If he gets back to his earlier form open up the passing game. Favre signing with Minny doesnt suprise me as much as how well the team did using the 3-4 the first time out on D. Its gonna be fun. Barnett was saying that during ractices Favre was like "God out there and we just had to flee." Now if he gets a chance to stick his helmet in there he's gonna really do it!." I like what I see. Its early in preseason but things look good. I think also that the Browns looked aweful. So i'm keeping a level head.
RANGERS LEAD THE WAY!
