www.jocklife.net/news/nfl/green-bay-packers-will-not-rule-out-possibility-signing-michael-vick-28044 Packers’ general manager Ted Thompson, who addressed the media at a press conference, took the time to mention that he is always looking for ways to improve the team and get better, so he would not rule out bringing Vick to Green Bay , a town that once had the legend Brett Favre around.
“Uh, what is the answer that we give to questions like this? We're always looking to improve our team and we look at all options at all times," Thompson said, after he was asked by the media.
“I wouldn't care to speculate in terms of the odds or anything like that.”
The Packers are one of the few teams remaining that have not publicly stated that they are not interested in the former Atlanta Falcons quarterback. Eight NFL teams in total, which include six that were in the playoffs last season, have not stated to the media whether they are interested in Vick or not. Before we get into whether this would ever happen, or should happen I want to try and put a twist on this. Do you think maybe TT would say this to mess with the Vikings after all the Favre crap, or do you think he is really that worried about what is currently behind Rodgers?

The owners need to remember that all of them eliminating him before he even gets a chance to show his stuff, could be considered collusion.
The union would be all over it, turning it into a media circus.
As long as a few teams say they aren't ruling him out, they're leaving the aura that he "might" be able to get back on a team.

Don't know if TT is trying to mess with the Vikings...but he is messing with me. My feelings right now are that if Vick is in...I'm out. I can forgive Vick, but I can't forget. Seeing that piece of slime standing on the sidelines with the Packers, or my worst nightmare, on the field actually playing for us would just bring visions of some poor animal being tortured, brutalized, maimed or killed. JUST SAY NO!!! I actually think Matt Flynn is a viable backup. I watched him play almost all of his college games and he could be really good in the future.

I for one would not like to see Vick on your sidelines. We have 2 young QB's that got a year on them and feel they will do fine if they are needed. A BIG NO TO VICK

The media is just rolling with this. It's honestly dumb to say anything of substance about personell moves publicly. TT isn't stupid, you play it generalized and nobody gets pissy. (cept fans!)

(cept fans!) exactly. TT never says anything about what he "may" do which makes me thing it's a little shot at the Vikes for the situation they are in.

I heard the interview. I never got the impression that he was/wasn't ruling out Vick. The answer was his normal answer to that type of question. He holds his cards close to his chest. Sounds like the same answer he gives when asked if he is going to sign a free agent. Look how many of those have been signed. I'm not worried.

Its a very politically correct move. Doc

I think TT answered it more than some think. He said he always looks to improve the team. Do you feel that Vick can improve the team as QB? I say no way in a big way. First do you think Vick wants to be a back-up? second the Pack throws the ball a lot. Vick is not a passing QB. He runs first and dumps second. his lifetime complection % is not good 56.?% So TT kinda gave us the answer in my mind. jmho

www.madison.com/wsj/home/sports/packers/460972Now, note that this article says just enough not to say anything at all, and while there is much that needs to be weighed regarding how Vick will impact the fans, I have no doubt that he could be a good addition to the team from a talent standpoint. I have just as much faith in Vick's passing ability as I do in Flynn's or especially Brohm's, so we'd have just as good a passer as a backup. But you consider what else he brings to a team (imagine going 5-wide with Vick in the shotgun, with all kinds of room up the middle), and he'd be a dangerous addition to our offense. I'm not quite sure how I would feel about it quite yet. I want to win, first and foremost, but when Jerry Jones has stepped forward and said he won't sign Vick, I have to wonder if it's worth the attention it would bring. I think I can bring myself to consider it -- the man has served his time, after all, unlike a Donte Stallworth or Leonard Little.

Vick... murderer + Hokie = douchebag. No way will he EVER wear a Packers uniform. TT does not want a media circus. Imagine Vick's supporters hoping Rodgers gets injured, so that Vick could be given the opportunity to prove himself.

I agree. TT wasnt going to take a side at all. Its a very politically correct move. Doc And I think it was a classier way to approach the subject. Unlike many other clubs' response to the Vick question, Thompson at least gave the question some dignity, which any person (even Vick, although Vick made some horrid choices) deserves. Vick is a talented athlete and his skills should still be recognized.
