Ok so training camp is in less than 2 weeks, contact football is on the way.
I am very excited to see this defense take shape. While there are sure to be growing pains and a lot of painful oopses along the way, I cannot wait to see the new defense after many bend dont break years. I think we will be much improved in the run dept and have full faith in Capers to utilize our strength in the secondary.
I tend to be wary about all these articles about how awesome our offense is going to be. I am convinced Rodgers is a good QB, I just hope our expectations aren't setting him up for a fall. I don't really believe in the sophomore jinx, but Rodgers had a lot of work to do in the off-season and I hope he accomplished it. McCarthy and Philbin play into this as well. The majority of the pieces of the O have played a season together. I expect the penalties to be less and the plays and schemes to increase in complexity. It just scares me that everyone is thinking our offense is set and worrying about the defense.
Still I think we are in for a wild ride this year and we end up on top.

Good question.
The two things that excite and scare me at the same time are;
1. Sophomore jinx, or great year by Rodgers. It could go either way.
2. 3-4 defense. Could be great, could be a dud.

What worries me about the 2009 season is the potential for divisional embarrassment. I sincerely think we have a team that has a fairly decent likelihood of bringing home the NFC North Championship, but we're still vulnerable to being embarrassed by the Favre-led Vikings or the Cutler-led Bears. Then listening to all the nay-sayers and negative Nancy's would be enough to drive me to the loony bin. I could handle seeing the Pack get beat in a heated battle against a division foe, but seeing a lopsided outcome would be devastating.

What scares me is our O-line will they be able to open up holes for Grant or will it be like last year a whole lot of yellow flags littering the field when a big play takes place and taking them out of position to keep the drive alive.
What excites me is our new defense under new coaching.

Excites Me!
Win, Lose or Draw... The season is starting.
Scares Me!
Our QB going down to injury and no experience at all as back up in the NFL.

OK, it's the obvious choice, but the new defense both excites me and scares me. I like the move to the 3-4 and the promise of more aggressive defensive play-calling, but with players playing in a new scheme and in new positions, there might be some scary moments, especially early, until things gel a bit.
The o-line has been scary for me for years now and this year is no exception. I hope Sitton can provide a bit more bulk and push at RG this year and stay healthy. I hope Colledge can play more consistently and that Spitz may prove to be a better answer at center.
However, when all is said and done, that RT spot scares the bejesus out of me right now. Three guys who have never played any number of significant snaps in the NFL are the leading candidates at the spot. I sure hope one of the group of Giaco, Barbre and Lang can break out and get it done like Tausch did his rookie year. (Speaking of which, I have not given up on the idea of him possibly coming back if he shows he's ready to go and things start looking a littel dicey with that trio in camp.)

Excites moi --
D-E-F-E-N-S-E
Injuries were partially responsible for the Packers poor showing on defense in 2008. However, NOW the Packers have an incredible opportunity to kick arse and take names.
The Linebacker unit consisting of Barnett, Kampman, Hawk & Matthews and has the potential to be among the GREATEST linebacking units of all-time.
The Packers secondary returns THREE pro bowl players.
Raji in the middle and forcing opponents to run wide, will help to free up linebackers to serve up a can of whoop arse on opposing qb's.
Between the Packer LB's, secondary and Raji, the Packers have 8 players on defense with pro bowl level capabilities.
OFFENSE --
I LOVE the wide receivers that the Packers have.
Seeing how well Rodgers is able to perform with a competent defense.
OFFENSE -- THE FREAKIN OFFENSIVE LINE.
It would be nice IF Rodgers could have time to learn the game from the upright position, instead of either being repeatedly slammed to the ground or having to run for his life.

Excited about the potential of the team, especially on defense.
Scared about how opposing defenses will have had a year to adjust to Rodgers and it will be interesting to see if we--both Rodgers and the rest of the offense--will be able to counterpunch. Running game is going to have to improve.

I won't really start worrying until I see the first game.
We have a ton of question marks, but who doesn't.
I thought the 3-4 Defense was always better suited for the players we have. I expect our D to flourish this year. The front half has to play up to their potential. I could see our Secondary giving us headaches this year.

Scary: O Line, Punting, Kick and Punt Coverage, D-Line depth, receiving production from the RB's and TE's (remember when that was a staple in our WCO?).
Exciting: Possibly generating a pass rush, better run stopping potential, the bewildering blitz packages of the 3-4, AR continuing to develop into an elite qb, Ryan Grant healthy, the receiving corps.

The team this year is going to either boom or bust, currently the offense is pretty well set the O line is going to be shuffled around completly two new starters on the offensive line with a possible third at center even though Spitz has started since his rookie year at gaurd. I want to see how Kampman does since if he doesn't do as well I think Green Bay has alot of quality players they can start in that spot from Jeremy Thompson or even Clay Mathews, heck even Brady Poppinga could be a solid player. But I have to agree the offensive line is the most worriesome, especially with the coaches that McCarthy has coaching them.

I'm terribly excited about the LB/DB group - and the chance for both units to make more plays (if it is possible for the DB's to improve on last year...) I'm also excited to see a different O-line than the last three years. I really believe that they can do some damage if the current 5 stay healthy. Finally, I think this is James Jones year to shine. I have him for 800 yards, 6 TD's this year.
I'm terribly scared for the D-Line, however. My gut tells me that the LBers will be making their tackles 5 yards down field - and Hawk/Barnett will be met with too many O-Lineman to hold up.

Watching the new 3-4 D both excites and scares me. Capers is solid as a D coordinator. Raji is going to be VITAL. Rodgers as been said 2nd full year(jinx or not?) Grant, FINALLY 100% from the hamstring. Scares me is the O-line who have been lately playing "like a box of chocolates."You never know what your going to get. The O line will make or break Grant and Rodgers. MM wants the Pack to run at least 30 times/gm. Taking Grants average from last year gets him at about 1200 yards and Jax and Wynn get the leftovers. If the Pack manages this successfully Rodgers gets the pressure off him and ameliorates the Jinx talk. The O line is(IMHO) going to be the first BIG KEY to the season. As been said the "not so special teams" lately. Scary. Giving short fields for teams to play on kills a D no matter how well they play. D line stopping the run. If you cant stop the run put a fork in it cause its done. O line, D line and special teams scary. Rodgers,Grant excite me. If the Pack can pass AND run it can be a VERY good season. RANGERS LEAD THE WAY!
