Sorry folks, just can't do it any longer. I defended him to no end last summer with all the drama but I can't stand him any longer. It's all about him. Even if he doesn't become a Viking, he's doing this to get back at the Packers and especially TT. He's also sticking it to those of us that were die hard fans for many years and I can't respect him for that. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it!

I totally understand. Sometimes we just have to move on. I just have to remember you're not the Spruce Goose!

Your loyalty and faith is commendable. Favre is responsible for choosing his path. IF Favre chooses to allow his HATE for TT & the Packers to consume his body and soul, then without a doubt Favre will have to pay a price. I am sure that IF Favre continues his career with Minnesota and tries to seek revenge against TT & the Packers, FAVRE IS DONE IN GREEN BAY. Favre can not have it both ways.

I totally get your makeover, Spruce.
I just don't get Favre: the guy has millions, rock star status to millions and he's an angry, bitter child. Even though as adults we shouldn't need heros or need to believe that pro athletes are upstanding citizens Favre disappoints. The tough, competitive SOB I loved watching 16 years who'd do anything to win is just another selfish, spoiled me-first diva.

I admire those of you that can shrug it off. I just can't do it. I never wanted to cheer against Favre and I cherished ever Sunday I got to watch him play. He's now putting me and all other Packer fans in a position to cheer against him every Sunday. I can't help it but I resent that. I will get over it but I'm frustrated with his entire me first attitude.

Yup! We're all human, barely that. Favre is no exception.
Holding someone up for hero worship is absurd. Real heroes are those who risk their lives daily to protect everyone else. They are the people who save lives, and change lives, for the better.
I remember some time ago, when Morgan Freeman spoke at a commencement exercise at a south eastern school, and told the students that it wasn't people like him they should be looking up to, but the doctors, nurses, police officers, fire personnel, EMTs, and military. All people whose purpose was to help them and protect them.
They were the real heroes.
Actors and athletes will never rival that as to importance. Anyhow, being a hero isn't something you strive for. It just happens, because a person reacts the "right way" under a set of circumstances. They may choose to react completely different ninety-nine out of one-hundred times, but that one time... they did it right.

Favre is not my hero! I was a fan and loved watching him play. My Grandpa is my hero for a whole bunch of reasons I won't get into now. I've never been star struck by anyone including him. I just resent his selfishness.

I guess I have a different take on this then most. In my opinion, I support Farve for what he is doing. How many men has the NFL used up for it's own purpose. Why can't a player use the NFL for his own purposes and gains.

I don't even resent Favre's desire to play football somewhere else. I think that's his right to be honest.
If he's doing this for selfish reasons, he's the one who suffers from it, none of us.
I know your Grandpa was your hero. You mentioned it before. I too admire the way Favre played for the Packers, and was kind of let down, when he was traded away, because of his inability to make up his mind whether or not he wanted to play.
To be honest, I think part of the reason that he's considering coming back again is because he doesn't want to let Thompson have the upper hand in the argument as to whether or not he was through when they dumped him.
How effective Favre would be for the Vikings, I don't know. But in all honesty, I don't think he'd even be their starter, and that unto itself, would be a deal breaker.
I've seen so many QBs in GB over the years. Some very good, some very bad. I've seen some of the best, with Starr, and Favre. I feel blessed, to have been able to see both of them throughout their entire career.
Following Starr we had Scott Hunter, Jerry Tagge, John Hadl, and finally, Lynn Dickey, to reach a point where we had someone decent under center.
This time around, we skipped past the Hunters, Tagges, and Hadls, and ended up with a solid QB in Rodgers.
To me, that is what made this issue less important. We do have a solid QB, who can guide the team for up to ten more years, if he continues to do an even better job each year. That's rare I'm afraid. Most teams end up in the crapper for a few years, before they get a new field general.

I understand your chamge Spruce. Favre is rapidly blowing though whatever goodwill he has left. I'll cheer against him this season, should he play for the Vikes. aty least we knew TO was a diva from day 1. Brett's grown to become one of epic proportions.the contrast between him and Rodgers couldn't be more striking. At this point. I hope Rodgers wins at least 2 rings.I grew up idolizing Brett, but his actions over the past 2 years have really soured my formerly dstrong affection for him.I saw his last game as a packer, and while it was a heartbreaking loss, his act over the period after that game has been ever more heartbreaking. So he wants to break Marshall's mark and pad the stat line? Fine, its his legacy hes shredding. his 4 aint going up on Lambeau anytiime soon..and all because he's carrying a grudge?

I think Favre would start in Minny and I think they'd be very tough to beat with him under center. That would become one very scarey offense if they had even an old Favre. JMO

I don't know what Favre has left. He played pretty well before he was injured last year but:
Does he want to do punishing workouts with a personal trainer?
Attend all of the mini-camps and OTA's?
Play for a coach who's a control freak and calls a very conservative offense?
Will he need surgery for his biceps tendon?
Dunno. Big schmiel, I've moved on.
