I don't often find the content on cracked.com worth commenting on, but this article was pretty interesting: www.cracked.com/article_17216_5-most-popular-safety-laws-that-dont-work.html.
It's pretty hard to disagree with much of what they say in the article - especially about the 3-strike laws and offenses that land you on sex offender lists.
GM, I figure you'll find the part about the Amber Alert especially interesting, since I think some of that is the point you were trying to make in the "Old people are too trusting" thread.
