Yeah those dogs are so bad ass. My friend just bought a pup for about 900, and it is an awesome dog, but I still don't think it's right to have one in Florida. I feel it would be way too hot.

Congrats, have fun! I want a doggy! However I really only want a Husky, and I would never punish one by owning it in Florida. I will have to wait until I go back up north. So bad ass though Huskies are a wonderful and intelligent breed. I grew up with a Husky/Timberwolf Mix. Amazing dog. During the winters in South Dakota, I remember that dog sitting on top of his dog house when it snowed with his nose to the air. Was an awesome sight.

Crates are inhumane. I taught my dogs to ring a bell when they wanted to go out. The Weim learned it in one try. I can't imagine what would be considered inhumane about a crate. Dogs are by nature den animals - they like to have a small home of their own. We used it when our Golden was a puppy and couldn't be trusted not to chew stuff in the house...now he's over 5 and still sleeps and rests in his crate. My parents didn't use a crate on their Cocker, and introduced bells a couple years later...problem is the darn thing rings them constantly. There's no way to tell if he really needs to go or not.
