The end of February this little cutie will be joining my family I've signed up for a dog behavior seminar and will be taking her to a dog manners class from the humane society. Bought the crate for housebreaking last night. Have an appointment lined up with a vet not far from my house. Any helpful hints dog owners?

Congratulations. However, the photo did not take.
I LOVE puppy dogs. They are truly awesome and become soooo easily part of the family.
I am sure that you, your mom and Godson will have lots of memorable times.
Enjoy.

Crates are inhumane.
I taught my dogs to ring a bell when they wanted to go out. The Weim learned it in one try.

My breeder suggested the bell system. Did a some research about it. My only concern is the ringing for pleasure. I'm also looking into the clicker method for obedience. These are all on my question list for the dog seminar.
I don't like the idea of using a crate but it will be only used during the housebreaking stage. It was recommended by the breeder, vet, friends, and all the research I've done on Lakeland terriers.

Someone needs to call the fashion police on those hideous socks, shoes and pants.

Someone needs to call the fashion police on those hideous socks, shoes and pants. I'll make sure and share that info with the breeder. I'm sure you'll make her top ten list. By the way, she's republican or was.

Yeah, don't get one. Our 9 month old Golden Retriever is driving me insane.
If only I hadn't come home drunk last year and said YES!!

I admit that I'm a bit worried but everytime I think of something to be worried about I figure out a way to "cover my bases."
I've talked to the neighbor about having the kids come over and walk the dog when I won't be able to get home from school at my usual time.
I've talked to a co-worker about house sitting when I need to go out of town.
I'm looking into "doggy daycare" so she'll have a chance to socialize with other dogs. I was at a friend's house the other day. They are taking care of their daughters miniature dachshund for a few months. I could tell the dog wasn't used to being around people; the think was yapping up a storm. I can just imagine if another dog would be around!

Congrats, have fun! I want a doggy! However I really only want a Husky, and I would never punish one by owning it in Florida. I will have to wait until I go back up north. So bad ass though

GM, My family has had Huskies in the family for a very long time. In fact, my brother and his wife use to show them and sell their pups for $1000.00. At one point, one of my brother's Huskies was the youngest Husky to be named a Champion show dog. Blued eyed Huskies are cool and are GREAT babe magnets.
