Every so often I start thinking about getting a dog. I'm in the most serious I want a dog mode that I have been in awhile. I don't want a purse dog or a big dog. I'm currently looking at miniature schnauzers. I've also read about Irish terrriors but heard they're not the greatest with kids. I'm looking at dogs who shed. Any experience with terriors?

Terriers have tons of energy - if you're not ready to deal with that, find something else. There are a lot of things to consider when choosing a dog breed - do a google search for "how to choose a dog" - there are a lot of good sites out there to help with the "what breed" question.

We have a 8 month old Golden Retriever. If I am honest, its a nightmare, far worse then having a baby. I would think very hard before getting another dog.

Bap We have a 8 month old Golden Retriever. If I am honest, its a nightmare, far worse then having a baby. I would think very hard before getting another dog. Yeah, goldens have some pretty intense demands for attention and affection. But if you train it well and wait a couple years for it to calm down, you won't have a more loyal dog. They're great with kids too. |

Jack Russell terriers are nice dogs but a ton of energy. I've had a golden retriever and it was a pretty mellow dog.
I hadn't petted a dog since we had to put ours down on Labor Day. Saturday we stopped by the Burnett County Humane Society in Siren. I nearly adopted a very nice Chesapeke/Golden Lab mix... she went to work on me and was pushing ALL my buttons.

I'd like to check out Bap's schnauzer.
I've got a Vizsla and just put my Weimaraner down a couple fo months ago.
