If I disappear for a period of time, it's because I'm having computer problems. Somehow I picked up a Win32 virus zafi.B.
I'm going to try to get rid of it using one of the packages available, but for some reason, my free copy of PC Tools Spyware Doctor doesn't indicate the virus, and neither does my free AVG anti-virus.
It just keeps "popping up" suggesting I go to their site to download a "fix" when actually the "fix" is a phisher.
I'd love to be able to take the asses that start these things out back and put a bullet in each of their heads. Eventually we'd eliminate them all, because of the fear of what would happen to them, if caught.
I could use advice on which I should download that will really remove this thing.

If you're looking for a program you can download and trust, try AVG anti-virus: www.avg.com. Otherwise, whatever anti-virus program you have installed should do the trick if it's up to date. But I hate to tell you....there are some viruses that don't seem to ever go away. Some of them are extremely hard to get rid of, and I've formatted my hard drive and done a clean install of Windows a few times over the years just because I wanted to make sure there was no trace left.

I just talked to my service. I'd forgotten that I had a policy with them to repair my computers, and remove viruses, etc, as part of the deal.
They're coming out to pick up my computer, give me a loaner, and they will remove the virus.
They'll be here tomorrow, so I should be more into it again.

Nice. Make sure you have a backup of essential data before sending it with them! The stories of people who had everything erased because service centers reinstalled the OS are too numerous to list.
And for goodness sakes delete the bedroom videos of you and your wife before they end up all over the internet!

No porn, or links to anything kinky. Unless it would be this site! I have my old trusty back-up working for now, but it's like watching cars rust in a rain storm.... not very fast. Only one problem with back ups that I can see. How do you know they aren't infected? That's the bummer I'd guess. Oh! It appears I got the virus through an email sent to me by a friend, in GMail. I hadn't been scanning them before opening them, when they were from friends.... Arrrrgggggghhhhhhh!!!!!!!

This is why I love Macs. Never get viruses.

TW..I suggest you switch to yahoo email..it scans the emails for viruses for you. It has alerted me several times that an email has a virus attached.

Thanks Fran. I think you're right. Normally I don't use GMail. It was dumb on my part.
