Seems a Father and son from California were arrested at a Mankato Holiday Inn and busted for selling Marijuana out of their room... Their reason? Since California as allowed Medical Marijuana it seems sales for drug dealers are having a problem selling their stash...
So a friend of mine says we should just franchise various drugs... Sort of like liquor stores... Just drive up and get your pot. We can tax it and make some money.. It will cut down on crime and put people to work at legit jobs...
What do you think?

You mean kinda like the "Brown Cafes" in Holland where you can buy dope over the bar. It has worked in Holland for years, would it work elsewhere?, I don't know.
It would have to be government run and the price would have to be the same at every outlet otherwise problems would arise. Also, strict age restrictions would have to be in place because I can see potential problems arising with elders buys dope for youngsters hanging around the street corner.
Also some states may not want licensed dope shops in town. Remember some places in the United States still don't serve alcohol so selling dope would definitely be a non starter.

I see no reason why drugs can't be regulated like alcohol.
Doing so would provide a new tax base for revenue, provide a "safer" product, and decriminalize behavior making room in the penal system for the worse kind of people.
Drug laws have their basis in racism anyway and quite frankly the government should butt out as to what a person does or does not do with their body and what they put in it, but with the new trans fat laws, repealing drugs laws will be pretty tough.

The problem with drugs is that it can lead to violent crimes to get the money for more drugs.
So, the problem is visited on those who aren't involved. That makes it my problem, when someone else spaces out, so I don't agree with your live and let live approach to it.
