"The NFL on Tuesday suspended six players for testing positive for a drug on the NFL’s list of banned substances. Defensive tackles Pat Williams and Kevin Williams of the Minnesota Vikings, a trio of players with the New Orleans Saints - running back Deuce McAllister and defensive ends Will Smith and Charles Grant - and center Bryan Pittman of the Houston Texans were slapped with four-game suspensions for violating the league’s policy on anabolic steroids and related substances " sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=txnflsteroids&prov=st&type=lgnsThis may change the face of the division playoffs. Chicago should be able to come out ahead of Minny looking at the schedule.

Been wondering when the suspensions would happen. Too bad it wasn't a few weeks earlier.

Now come the appeals....... Will they actually be suspended this week or a few weeks down the road?

I think the appeals process is over. Sounds like the only one who won the appeal was Grady Jackson. I only skimmed the article so I could be wrong.

Ouch! Once again, proof that the NFL will do anything to make sure the Vikings don't win it all. The Commish spiked their Gatorade!

It would have been nice had it been a couple of weeks earlier.
Well, if we run the table and the Vikes go 2-2, we'd be in, even if the Bears go 3-1.
I just caught the report here in the Twin Cities and it sounds like the NFL appeals have been exhausted, but Pat Williams agent is going to file papers in federal court. Don't know the grounds for that.

It is quite possible we could run the table (but I doubt it) and the V*kes could well lose at least 2 so 9-7 is not out of the question just yet.
All we need the V*kes annual choking session to start this Sunday and then we have a chance.

Though there is the possiblity of lawsuits, I don't think it will help to file the suit. It seems pretty clear-cut that they violated the rules. In the past--the parent company of Starcaps was already on the "banned" list... There is already a warning about diuretics (especially for "make weight" clauses). The NFL had sent letters warning about Starcaps to the teams' trainers, GMs and to the NFLPA's guy who administers this sort of stuff.... The attorney's main complaint is that the NFL didn't expressly name Starcaps on the forbidden list. The defense to that is that if they name one--they have to name them all, and to keep up with every single product (because somebody would find something that's NOT on the list and use that for a defense) would be almost impossible. And like it says in the CBA "The player is responsible for what goes into their body." period. The league has a list of approved stuff, but not a forbidden list naming individual products.... At the end of this: www.twincities.com/ci_11121347article are copies of the news release that the league released and copies of some other NFL originated documents relating to this situation. Doesn't look good for the big guys. Here's a question for all the "frivolous lawsuit" sort of guys--doesn't this qualify? A bunch of guys who go against a specific policy-yet they file suit to delay the punishment they've earned.... things that make ya go ...hmmmmmm

Well it seems like I was correct and the Williams boys will not have to sit out at this time.... "This matter needs to be looked at longer" And I'm sure that Minnesota Jodge had no rooting interest...
