My property taxes have doubled in the past 2 years. There are several reasons for this happening and I won't bore you to death with details. I've heard from a lot of people in the area that I live that they just don't know what they are going to do.
I hate to keep beating a dead horse but times are really tough right now and there are a lot of people really hurting!

I feel for you..... I have a 50 + year old house that I haven't made many great improvements on in the last 3 years... (Pretty much the same with all my neighbors) and the city keeps raising my accessed value. Which a real esatate friend of mine says I would never reach if I put the place on the market.... That and the city deciding that they could not make even one budget cut from this coming years budget and need more tax money coming in to meet all those pay raises and programs for new fancy decorations for city buildings....
My area has historically had higer than average proprty taxes.. and some of my friends have moved out of the city / county....
Think you'll see more homeless

The result of less federal tax money coming into the states and locals, to augment the needs.
Part of the death of our infrastructure. We're collapsing with the weight of taxes like this, because we don't want to pay income taxes.

The result of less federal tax money coming into the states and locals, to augment the needs. Part of the death of our infrastructure. We're collapsing with the weight of taxes like this, because we don't want to pay income taxes. Help should be on the way. Daniels was among about 40 governors who met with President-elect Barack Obama in Philadelphia to discuss the impact the faltering economy is having on states. Obama told them he wants their help in designing a package to help states cope with the recession as part of an overall economic recovery plan that also would include tax cuts. Some governors have asked for at least at least $40 billion to help pay for health care for the poor and disabled and perhaps $136 billion more in infrastructure projects like road and bridge repairs in the legislation, which Democrats hope to have ready for Obama's signature as soon as he takes office on Jan. 20.www.examiner.com/a-1722084~Daniels_generally_backs_Obama_stimulus_plan.html
