sports.yahoo.com/nfl/rumors/post/Pats-Cassel-looking-for-a-Rodgers-type-deal-?urn=nfl,122525 According to an NFL Network report, New England Patriots quarterback Matt Cassel will be looking for a new deal in the six-year, $65 million range once he becomes a free agent in March. Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers recently received, and the two quarterbacks have similar stats through similar playing time in 2008, their first seasons of on-field action. And they have the same agent, David Dunn.Do you think he can pull this off? I know teams that might be interested could be: Lions 49'ers Vikings Chiefs I still don't see how he will pull off that kind of deal, but I don't know. The NFL loves to give money to guys who might have a chance of an upside.

I don't think Cassel is quite as good as Rodgers to be honest. It's like the guys who backed up Favre in the past. I could see Hasselback making it, and Brunell, but that's about it. The others, solid enough back ups, but I never felt they were good enough to be career starters.
I think Cassel falls on his face outside New England.

It really could be.
I think you are looking at a Lions and Chiefs team that are in total rebuild so they will look to the draft to find their future.
I believe its going to be San Fran or Minny for Cassel

If Shaun Hill plays like he did last Sunday with a little bit more consitency over the season there is no doubt that Hill is the future strater of the 49ers, whether Martz likes it or not. The Lions figure that they have there future starter in Drew Stanton actually there convinced because the spent a second rounder on him last year. The Chiefs I actually think will stick with Thigpen he has shown alot of ability for the garbage around him other than Bowe and Gonzalez, he has played well and I love hearing the Viing fans say "this could be our QB".
Thats why I think he goes to the Vikings, they need a young QB with at least some potential who can throw it deep and keep it short, this is going to be a Childress signing to just try and justify keeping his job, this is the type of player he likes, a career back up who they sign to big bucks and fails on them. Just like Fred Smoot, Vishante Schinaco, yes he came on a bit but he is a career backup and for the money he is making.

And it would keep the Vikings below their capabilities. I love it!

I think Cassle is a decent QB. I see him being about as good as Shaub.
I could careless where he goes. I do think the Pats will re-up on him.
I'd be more worried about the Vikings picking up McNabb or Palmer(longshot).

I agree, but I would also add Favre onto that list, if he decides to play I am retiring but I think I will still play game.
