It's sad that we end up in this situation. I thought the Packers were a much better team than the Lions, before the season started. But, here we are, week 17, and the entire season is on the line in one game. At stake? The Division title for the Packers, or no trip to the playoffs for a team that many thought was a real contender for the Lombardi Trophy months ago.
Instead of talking about a bye week, and waiting on who we get to visit GB, we're looking at another season where we have to win or go home, and only the first game we play will be at home. Based on our record, it's doubtful Packer fans will do more than watch the rest of the playoffs on TV, and quite frankly, we haven't been that good of a road team this year. At least, not compared to our solid years.
I'm going to pick the Packers to win this one, but it might come back and haunt me during the off-season. They win and the nucleus of the team stays intact, lose, and we start seeing pieces fall off, with young, untested players as replacement. It happens in the NFL. You can't stand still, and if you lose with what you got, you get different.
Packers 30 Lions 27
It's going to be a squeaker. I see it being decided by a field goal.

The Packers and Lions could tie and then they BOTH make the play-offs. hope not that way. The Packers will need to draft high for DB.s again this coming April. ( i said it was bad to let go of Hayward and Williams, even House and have only Shields as a fast enough vet) then Shields goes down what bad luck. Gunter is a player but his lack of speed, makes him play off and in the fact he is playing the worst position out of need does not help. he has the size and instincts, but we need at least a taller faster DB plus we really need to see Rollins and Rendell step it up it is there time Going to be a tough fight at Detroit, but look for THE QB to make a few passing mistakes and we can win this Rodgers need to be hot as well The teams have seen enough of Montys style to control him use Christine Michael more and hope he can give the Pack enough of a run game to help. Packers- 38 Lions---27

What I like most about seeing Montgomery in the backfield is that the defense has to watch for the run. If they use their entire wide out package, they have to defense against the pass. That means a corner, or safety, needs to be down on Montgomery, over the middle of the field. If he moves, after the snap, that defender needs to follow his movement, pulling a defender out of the middle. This should open it up for the shorter crossing routes into the vacated areas. If the Packers exploit this, the Lions won't be able to match up because of speed. That, to me, is the difference maker in this game, because our defense just plain sucks!

I likw the way you think! And yes i think if they use Christine more and use Monty in third and short when he can do as you wrote about drawing a safety he also then can either run outside or hit the flat with a catch he would outmatch the safety or let COOK get the passes. makes the offense so much better, But as a pure runner in different formations i think he will have a tough time. don't get him so beat up and use him as a punt returner i think his moves and big body with that speed would make him a tough player to stop and give the Packers some real field position and maybe a few big gains and a score or two.
