watched this game yesterday,, I really saw some players(rookies,2nd year ) playing well They had Barclay in at center for most of the game Tretter started but was under the weather a bit they said, Linsley still rehabbing. they used Abbs for kick return man. Janis must be in trouble, something is not right about him. The Wis. native punter Mortell looked very good, we won 17 11 three safeties 4 points for the Packers and 2 for the browns. Bradford played well, Elliot is tough the rookie frACkel played good, lots of new faces and many played decent for the first game of the preseason. Rodgers says he is going to play some the next game. Love M Daniels, he will make the defense line play better. Jones had a sack and played well. next game Raiders

There were a few moments guys looked good. I thought they were a little weak when it came to discipline, which was surprising since they had an extra week practice.
I don't know what's with the WRs either, except it's possible they figured Janis is one of the top 3, and they didn't want to risk him. If that's the case, bad mistake. I think Abbs can beat him out, if they compare their play.
Abbs was auditioning as the back up return man (I think) for both punts and kicks. Could be a good, or bad sign.
Mortell could end up being the better punter in Green Bay. The kid wants this a lot. He's a Packer fan through and through. He even worked with the Packers running stats, before he ended up at the U of Minnesota. Surprised the Badgers didn't snatch this kid up. If he keeps punting like he did last night, he should be given the job. He's high and deep in his punts. Looks really good.
I liked Fackrell's play, but saw it as nobody blocking him. He had an open lane, and was on a blitz.
Missed tackles still bug this defense. They need to play better fundamentally.
There's going to be a lot of good players cut. There's very few spots open on this team. I think they have some tough decisions to make based on where guys stand today versus where they'll be in a year. I think it's a "must win" season for McCarthy, and we're going to see that mentality. The call for a "Championship defense" is a statement that nothing less than making an extremely strong run is acceptable by the front office.

It's so hard to break down this game. The Browns have an awful OL/DL ranked 28th and 30th and their depth is putrid. I'll take a W but the next 2 games will tell us much more.

the Packers are just looking to see which players are going to make the roster, and of course playing around any injuries, but the starters played well even with some that were the back ups but still did well, Each pre game you look for a hopeful player to step up or improve. really one a few spots open, It is going to be a tough pick on the number of Offensive line they keep and who, I think Rotherman is not going to make it, but it is as you say early, and he has 3 games to play better, I really enjoy watching them play in preseason with the hopefuls doing all they can to stay. going to be hot and humid in Jacksonville so the big guys will get lots of playing time, lot of rotation there, giving the coaches a better look at the depth I would say.

I agree with you guys. Not much to judge on yet. I did find that Janis had a minor injury, but should be back this coming week. Nothing to worry about, they say.

Humm, I just read that Janis is not playing this week. I think it could be they need a longer look at two receivers and Janis would take reps away from them so he is not going to play at all. Just a thought.

Janis has a broken hand which required surgery and screws to placed in it. Reports are 4-6 weeks. Dr I know who deals with this stuff told me with screws it's 8 weeks. Janis to IR is what needs to happen.

yep just read his interview, 4-6 weeks if he heals quickly, but that still means he needs to rehab. Looks like Davis is going to be needed more than we think. Abbs. is going to be a busy fellow. no wonder they had him in kick returns. he cannot play on ST's though, so they need Davis to step up maybe. of those two undrafted rookies. the one is said to have blazing speed. but neither are very big in lbs. Did you hear about the coach wondering if J. Perrilo is using "stickum" on his hands?! the guy has been super in catching the ball so far.

Agreed. Janis needs to go on IR. He could be chosen as the recall IR if they want. It's going to take time to get back into playing shape. This is a bummer for Janis and the team. He has shown so much and deserves a better break.
