Can the running back Rice make a come back after missing so much time? will any team take a shot with him? remember, his yards per carry along with total yards in his last three years went downward. he is no spring chicken, can he still play? and will anybody that needs a vet back take that shot? what do you think?

Someone who ends up with an injured RB will grab him. I think he'll go to someone during the first couple of weeks of training camp. Whether or not he sticks with a team is another story. Rice was a slasher. A tough tackle. I guess we'll see in his case.
It's sure changed with RBs over the years. I remember when Eddie George was racking up yards at about a 3.0 clip and the Titans hung on to him, year after year, because he gained yards, didn't lose them, and he must have had good hands. I never found him to be that good, but since I wasn't a Titans fan, I didn't see much of him, and he wasn't a flamboyant player. He just did his job, over and over.
I think RBs have a shorter life date in the game than most positions, due to the pounding they take on plays. They wear down in as little as 4-5 years. But, in all honesty, I'm not certain they wear down as much as the teams around the league want us to believe. I think that when they dump them, it's because they figure they can get nearly as good from another guy, at less than half the money, so they dump a guy even after a successful season, or before they even get a chance to prove they've recovered from an injury the previous year. Then, with another team, they're asked to play a completely different role in a different system, and it's almost a guarantee they'll fail. If you expect them to be at their best, with a new team, you need to design some aspects of the game - when they're in the lineup - into what they do best.

Hey, what you doing up at 4 in the morning? My back is keeping me up. I noticed your entry so I thought I would chirp in. I agree with what your saying. I think RB is a dime a dozen for the ave to good player, so they let them go if they want to much money. getting a elite back, I guess they pay for the extra years in hope they can still perform. should be interesting on how Lacy starts the season.

I have a serious sleeping problem because of the health issues I've had recently. I had a problem with the rotator cuff on my right shoulder. Several weeks of therapy, and still battling the weakness, but the pain is gone. Some arthritis in that joint as well.
Next comes my left hip. It started with arthritis, then added bursitis to the mix. Lots of pain. Started treatment on that. Then, lo and behold, I ended up getting shingles on my lower left back, and hip! Couldn't do therapy, couldn't do anything with the pain.
I was in a predicament. Couldn't lay down on either side, and sense all the problems with my hip triggered my sciatic nerve problem in my left leg, I couldn't lay on my back. By taking vicoden and 1500 mg of acetominophin with it, I could sleep for a couple hours in bed, or up to 4 hours in a recliner. Add in the muscle relaxers I had to take and some other meds, when I was awake, changing positions every half hour to an hour, from a hard back chair to the recliner, and laying on the bed for a few minutes, I was constantly tired.
I can sleep on my right side now, for up to 4 hours. It hurts beyond that point. I can sleep on my left side for up to 30 to 45 minutes. I can therefore get roughly 4 hours to 5 hours sleep from 10 PM through 7 AM, but end up spending half that time sitting up in a recliner, hard back chair, or in front of my computer. The sad part is, when I work on my computer, the pain in the hip gets worse constantly, and after about 30 minutes, I need to stop, and can go back a couple hours later.
Doctor says I should be able to live a normal life in a couple of months. Just about the time we head back to Texas. It's been a lot of bull this summer. All I do is try to heal. Can't even have a few drinks! Bummer!
