The Packers cut Alonzo Harris and brought up John Crockett from the practice squad. To some this is a surprise move, but not to me.
A friend of mine, who's watched both Harris and Crockett indicated that Crockett has improved immensely, and is practicing much better than Harris. He's a better blocker, and has excellent hands. He could end up being a decent option coming out of the backfield on passing plays. He may even get some field time tonight, on special teams, where they say he's been hustling to make a mark, and get on the field. Crockett, he said, was also a popular person in the locker room.
I hope this works favorably for us. We could use a bright spot on the field right now.
Of course, we shouldn't get carried away about this move. It's minor compared to the problems we have right now, when we come out of the locker room.

Crockett i think was the "spark" for the team, I also liked him for his different style of running the ball, harris was a big back like lacy, Crockett is smaller and has that cut and thrust run and turns his shoulders well to look smaller to help get through the small gaps.

Crockett played well. No doubt about it, he has a fire, wanting to succeed. I think he's a good addition to the RB corps. He did show some speed, and agility.

I see on NFL network that Lacy and Harris missed curfew. That's why Harris was cut. Lacy has a lot of growing up to do! They also gave Monte Ball a workout this week.

I hope Ball shows enough to get him a roster spot. I thought he got a quick shuffle in Denver, and I can't understand why. It's possible that he didn't have the pass catching ability they liked, with their RBs. It's also possible he got on the wrong side of Manning, who would have wanted him cut, if he disagreed with him.
It will be interesting, seeing what the Packers do, in regards to Ball. The only problem I see is that they could cut Kuhn, and keep the three they have. Not something I want to see.
But, I think they're looking at Ball or Crockett for the rest of the year.

Interestingly enough, the Packers might dump Lacy because of his violation of team rules. If he had been productive over the course of the season, it might have been a better situation, but quite honestly, at this point in time, it looks like the Packers may make Lacy the scapegoat for the problems the team is having on offense. They could quietly call him a "problem" in the locker room.
This reminds me again of WWI, and the way Generals would blame their lousy war plans on the soldiers when they failed, and execute a few for "morale." Apparently that's the mentality that they have in the McCarthy regime.

don't you think they would have blamed lacy before he had those two back to back 100 yard games? I feel there really is a big problem with a small number of players who think they can do like Mr. Football" party boy Manziel. MM is trying not to INFECT the whole team. Just ANOTHER way to look at it i guess.

If Lacy is a party boy, and they want to gain control over the team, they might cut him. I don't think anyone is exempt from rules. That said, they might give him a lot of bench time, hoping he gets the message.
I think something like this should have been done sooner, except they didn't have anyone to tie to the whipping post. I'm a believer in team discipline. But, I sure wouldn't cut Lacy. I'm not sure that would be out of the picture with Thompson. He has a code that must be followed. McCarthy believes in it too. That's why they are so concerned when they vet players they might draft.

I think I saw Harris run the ball one time for the Seahawks yesterday.

the Packers will not miss him. At least Crockett shows something different than lacy and Harris who are power backs, This kid seems to hit the hole faster But I guess he is a solid back up. I could not see him being used for 10 snaps even, Unless he can catch well. I still feel the bigger problem is not the run on offense but the pass receivers . just do not have a solid 1-2 let alone a 1-2-3. With Nelson and Cobb we had two different types and both are good enough at what they do best to help whoever we would put in as the number three, Both nelson and Cobb demanded a double or man cover for Cobb and that left the third guy with the third or fourth best cb on the other team and Even Adams is good enough to be a little better than most teams , oh well, should be a fun game with Dallas, this week, I hope it snows a lot. Dallas hates the cold.
