I find myself getting bored with NFL football. First of all, to watch a game live is watching 2 hours of commercials and an hour of entertainment. I usually watch Packers games live but any other game, I record them and skip through the commercials.
It also seems to me that the quality of play has decreased significantly in recent year. I know players are bigger faster and stronger but I find the quality of play to be awful as a whole. Maybe it's just me? Is the league more watered down? Is it the rule changes? Is it because the game is faster so things have changed?
I still love NFL football but each year I watch less and less. Maybe it's because I'm so busy in my professional life, I don't have the time...
Just some random thoughts...

I remember when they "shortened the game" by allowing the clock to run on plays out of bounds. "It will make a better game for the fans!," they said. Funny part is, the games are just as long, since they took that additional time to add in three more commercial time outs each half to replace the game time lost. Talk about lying... that pretty much defines it.
I'm also showing somewhat less interest in the games to be honest. Not the Packer games, generally speaking, but the NFL overall. I think there's a critical lack of talent. There has been since the last expansion. It was a league of guys that were elite, now marginal players are on teams. Then there's their lack of training as far as football itself, because of curtailed preseasons, and preseason games, along with no contact drills only for most of the year, and we're seeing skills eroding,
It sure isn't the game I remember from 50 years ago. Not even close.

Not even close. I agree with both of you. I honestly am not glued to the TV anymore, AND, I blame that on the COMMERCIALS. They have so many , and they cut off the play of the game many time to show a f------commercial.

It has to be hard as a player to stand around during all of the TV timeouts. Hard to maintain momentum. I recently watched a documentary on Lombardi and was glued to the entire show. I would have LOVED that era. So much heart and dedication. With the player egos these days that style would never work today.

I have noticed a few times with the Packers when they go to a commercial sometimes the players are on the field and do not like it. depends on the length of the adds. The TV will run the add and continue play, they just show it 30 seconds or 1 min delayed.
