What happened?

My personal opinion as to what has happened to the Packers.

I don't believe Clement is as good a signal caller as McCarthy. That doesn't mean I think McCarthy is great at it. I just think he's better than Clement.

I believe that the moves made in the coaching staff, that promoted guys into new roles on offense, may not have been the best thing to do. Often, coaches are great at one discipline, not nearly as good at coaching another. When it comes to discipline by positions, this is very true, and that's what changed with the Packers offensive coaches. Time to reassess where they all belong.

Lack of a running game. It goes back to the coaches. I've never bought into the theory that the Packers offensive line is "awesome," and I've been vocal about it. We don't have anyone who can truly play left tackle, and because of it, our left guard is ending up helping out, so Rodgers won't get blind sided every play. Our guards are solid. I'm still not convinced our center is all that good. Too many guys seem to be getting past him, and into the backfield. These are guys he's supposed to block! Right tackle? Bulaga? Not really that good or bad. A journeyman, but nothing more. If I was to rate our offensive line, I'd go C-. That's not under valuing them either.

Defensive line. After Daniels, not too much to get excited about. The rest are role players. Big, but not physically strong enough to move offensive linemen back, to collapse a pocket. When it comes to occupying space for our linebackers to make plays on runs, they're good at it. That's the only reason they came up to a C.

Speaking of linebackers, we have two. Matthews & Peppers are it. I'm tired of hearing how all these guys who are there filling uniforms are so talented. If they were, why aren't they on the field, making plays. I hope the retire they guy in #51 and give the number to someone else. Palmer totally sucks! Watching any of our linebackers other than Matthews or Peppers blitz is exasperating. If they do slip by a lineman, they get knocked down by 180# RBs.

Our secondary is pretty darned talented. Now we need to teach them to hang onto balls they should be intercepting. We'd have one or two of those losses in the win column if they didn't flub the INT. It can really hurt, and it has.

Special teams. What they doing? Tinkering with our punter's mind again? Let the kid kick the ball. All these little clinics they hold with him are putting mistakes in his head. As far as how well the rest of their game is played, it's barely acceptable. They need to step it up a notch. I will say that #83 plays like he means it out there. He's on my team anytime, as a star on the kicking teams.

The Packers aren't going to win it this year. They've lost their edge. Rodgers looks like he's beaten, and doesn't know what to do about it.

lots of problems coming to the fans attention, But why so any al at once? you know we see the flaws I think sometimes better than the coach because we are home on tv at our leisure watching the film or game if you want, I watch the game 25 times and stop it to see what a certain person is doing. The worst part of that believe it or not is I can see the refs how they let one more flagrant flag go and call another that is not near the ball or not going to or did make an impact on catching moving etc the ball. Palmer I see is really not doing much, he is late to react and he misses to often as well. the secondary is good but Hayward is in the wrong position and even then I wonder just how good he is. I think to many are living off his first year and his 6 int,s he really has been getting beat by a step in lots of coverage. I have not given up on him , I just mean he has been given to much credit because of that one very good season. I heard that Masthey has one thing on his mind lately, kicking or punting the ball to certain areas with the tip of the ball on the bottom being more forward so as when it hits the ground it flips backwards, this is in an effort to place the ball or kill it inside the 10 yard line. He seems to have the most trouble when hi punts the ball to his right side angling it and trying to keep it from rolling forward.
I really really feel that Janis is getting ripped off. This guy has done everything the teams asks on STs and as a receiver, He has lead the team in big gains TDs, yardage, average per catch almost in every category he has done this in two preseasons and the lousy 8 pass attempts in a regular game one I watched Rodgers toss out of bounds uncatchable and he was shaking his head at Janis. he could never have caught it. plus if you look at his catch % in the season he leads all receivers, if you give him his yardage he made on the 5 catches he is the team leader (tied) tds. to catches he leads but more important he leads the entire team in catches for first downs he makes the tough ones and get yards after the catch, He needs to get 20 balls tossed his way in one game like the AVERAGE Adams. If that happened he would never be sitting on the bench again, . He rubbed somebody the wrong way and he is paying for it, But of course so is the team. he can make a big difference.
He is a top gunner On the ST units, and he either makes first contact or pushing the ball carrier into the defensive coverage he doe his job well.
Oh well he will never get to prove himself . it was the last straw when you bring Abbs up from the PS and let him play He is a good hands slower player, we have 4 of them already. I do hope he is not hurt from that hit, so he can play next week, because ei feel he is BETTER than Adams and J jones.

I wonder if Janis & Abbs could play well enough in tandem, to make Cobb able to work one on one. At this point in time, they send Janis on decoy routes that take him away from being a target because they've locked in on Cobb as pretty much the only option. Jones is the #2 option but his routes are clearing routes so he's rarely open.

I just don't get the mindset of our coaches. They seem to think teams are too stupid to figure out what they do constantly, play after play. I'm also beginning to wonder if someone on our ofeensive line, or a receiver, are telegraphing plays just by the way they set up. It's happened before.

On defense, regardless if anyone wants to hear it, we miss the ability Hawk brought to the table to diagnose run versus pass. That;'s lacking today.

I do think the talent is in that locker room to be highly successful. Right now the coaches and players are frustrated and have lost the confidence it takes to win. I don't think they can get it turned around but I hope I'm wrong. MN is going to be a very tough test. They are extremely well coached and rest assured, their coaches have proven they can make adjustments during a game. Ours have proven just the opposite.

in 1996 the packers went through a down stretch where they lost to KC and Dallas in back to back weeks, in fact the Packers gave up a then record 7 FGs to Dallas in that game. the next week they were down at half to the Rams who were dreadful that year, before bouncing back
i dont know what game it will take to bounce back from this slump. but i think it has to be this week. we don;t want to be 2 back of the Vikes.

a little different this time, the offensive line is hurt the rb is not healthy the number one receiver is out the remaining group are not able to spread the defense, the Defense just plays man to man the TE is nothing, Maybe Perillo can add some spark to it he has the size and TE speed with good hands, to little to late? The defense is injured, Raji is not what the pack has hoped for, Pennel is getting better and more snaps but he is young, the Den or linebackers are injured and not as good, the dbs are good but they keep playing Hayward OUT of position. PLUS the Vikings are an improved defense and the offense is still up and down, but does have more talent then back then, this next game will define the Packers remaining season. they really are out of options they MUST win in Minny this week. If not I call them dead in the water.

With Rodgers hurting, and it being his throwing arm, the attention has to go back to the lack of blocking on the O-line. McCarthy mouthed off last year about how good these guys are, and from what I've seen, there's problems.

The old excuse - "injuries" - is going to be thrown around but let's face it. They haven't done anything to make anyone believe they have enough talent to be a force in the NFL.

I've said it repeatedly. We do not have quality tackles on offense. We do not have quality D-linemen either. We just can't seem to get the players we need at these spots, or the coaches aren't good enough to make them play at their level of ability. Or, the third option, the blocking schemes have become so bad through coaching, that they are missing guys coming in, because there's no design to stop the rush under various circumstances.

Whatever the case, we might be seeing Rodgers go down with an injury that's bad enough to keep him out of games, before this season is over.

just looked at the injury list. the offensive line except Linsley is banged up and Rodgers throwing shoulder is not right, He says he will play this week, but I just finished watching the last game 3 times and you can see Rodgers is favoring the shoulder, That helps explain why one pass is way low and short and then the next one goes fluffy high and long, H etries to adjust but he just does not have the feel or tough when the shoulder is banged up and he is more than likely on a pain killer or blocker
