Firing the President & GM, in Detroit, is just the beginning. I doubt Caldwell will be kept much longer, as HC. At 1-7, and them believing they'd be in the hunt against the Packers, I can't imagine what could save Caldwell.
Their whole organization is messed up. They need to totally revamp what they have from top to bottom, and if that means dumping guys like Johnson & Stafford, to get fresh blood, we can expect it to happen.
Right now, there aren't many happy people surrounding their franchise.

It must be awful being a Lions fan. Years and years of disappointment. Every once in a while they experience some success but it quickly fades. It's a lot like being a Brewer fan!
I doubt Caldwell will make it past this year. It will be interesting to see who they bring into the front office!

I think their biggest problem is that they don't realize that you start by hiring at the top, and let them decide who falls in line below them. The key is in getting a top guy who has the ability to draw the best to his organization.
If you look at how the Packer resurgence started, it was the hiring of Bob Harlan who in turn put all the chess pieces on the board. If you get the right guy in that first move, you can stack the table in your favor. If you can't, expect to be like the Lions.
Someone told me once that a smart top man will hire people who are as smart as him, or smarter, because he doesn't fear for his job. He knows there's always someone out there who recognizes what he can do, and will snatch him up in a heart beat, to work his magic. The weak person hires people who aren't as smart as him, because he thinks everyone is gunning for his job. I've seen way too many fitting into the latter direction.
Mrs. Ford had better do this properly, her franchise is in a shambles, and even their new stadium won't keep the seats full if they don't right that ship.
