I recall conversations here and elsewhere about the coaching staff. Specifically McCarthy and his playcalling. A lot of complaints...yet, over his tenure, their offense has ranked highly in terms of points scored.
Looking around the league...there is some very bad coaching and it appears, at least with MM, we are in good hands. Some talked of Caldwell and Lombardi in Detroit..yet, their offense sucked and Lombardi is now on the streets (Caldwell likely will be after the season too). Now the play calling gets turned over to? Jim Bob Cooter...and no, that is not a joke.
Whiz sucks here in TN. Pagano is very close to being on the outs in Indy. Reid better win some games. That 80s porn star in SF.
The list of bad to mediocre goes on and on.

Being disgruntled about a specific way coaches handle certain things and saying it doesn't mean you don't respect other aspects of what they do. The same is true in reverse.
Example of the reverse. I don't respect Belichek, but I do respect how efficiently they handle half time adjustments. I also respect how well they go into games consistently with game plans that either work, or with an alternate plan they can switch too, no matter where they are in the game.
I respect what McCarthy has done with the offense but felt, and still do, that his red zone game is too conservative, and he has a penchant for sitting on leads that don't guarantee wins. You need to go full out, until you are dead certain you can't lose.
I also feel that McC is loyal to his assistants, and sometimes tends to let them stay on, even when they aren't successful. We've watched that happen with special teams. I'm still not certain we're where we want to be in that area of coaching, and from what I gather, McC may be a little too "hands on" when it comes to these duties. That said, I don't know if Zook is a capable ST coach. He's from the same mold as his two predecessors, and they sucked.
Next, I don't think the Packers coaching staff is nearly good enough to dynamically change game plans at half time.
All leaders have weaknesses, and in the end, there are people who will exploit them. If people blindly believe they don't have weaknesses, admit to them, and be willing to accept criticism for them, they never do anything to correct them.
To put it bluntly, I still believe that McCarthy's success largely hinges on the fact that he's had nothing to HOF QBs running the offense. Without Favre, then Rodgers, I doubt we'd see nearly the wins we have. You need both talent on a team, and coaches capable of directing that talent. At this point in time, McCarthy can't carry Belichek's strap for him. Belichek's success, in big games, points that out. But, yet again, he's been blessed with great people under center.
By the way. I totally agree with you on those other coaches you mentioned. I just don't see them making the cut, partially because of a lack of team talent, and because they can't harness the talent they have.

they sure did stick to there plan last night, They stunk up the stadium. How can you run the same thing over and over and think it will work? How can you not play every player dressed if the others are not getting it done.? I said this from the time Nelson got hurt. This team has receivers that can play the slot or run the shallow routes but none of them can play outside or has the speed needed to help the entire offense function. the offensive line cannot open the hole and keep it open long enough for the size and lackof speed at rb. If they keep the line in tack then at least find a rb who can show quickness and speed to the hole and also have the talent to "look small" coming to the hole and lower pads and turn to a side with the burst No Te that can be tall enough to give a linebacker fits and with the speed to out run them and force a DB on them in which then the TE has the height to out play him most of the time. I read for many years now about TT and MM "liking the ideal TE size at 6'3" and 250 lbs, well not in todays game you got to look at the basketball player who is agile and has big hands and stands 6'6" 260 lbs get with the program!
