The Central Division was one of the best in the NFL. Suddenly, not so tough. Why?
The Bears deserve to be 0-3. Their offense is horrible, with or without Cutler. OK - Not even NFL caliber if he's out of the game, and about the top of the lower third if he plays. Forte can't get enough yardage for them to keep them in games. With Clausen under center, their opponents play for the run, and dare the Bears to pass. On defense, they really seem to be sleep walking at this point, and we're only three games in. It's going to get better for awhile, then it's going to get bad again. They don't have the same mentality that they did as short a time ago as last year. They don't have the leadership, nor the talent to compete for a title. They'll battle it out for the cellar in the Division.
The Lions don't have any answer that makes sense. I thought they'd be fairly tough, now they look like a team that's going to get a real early draft pick. Watching them play has to be frustrating for a Lions fan. They seem to be out of sync, and when you watch the sidelines, their coaches seem to be resigned to the fact that they're going to be beaten again. The emotions of a winner don't seem to be there. Posturing on individuals plays like "you're the man" isn't emotions that make sense, if you can't play well enough to win.
The Vikings aren't as good as their record indicates to be honest. As soon as they play a tier one team (top 12), they will fold their tents for the year. Bridgewater has turned into a fairly good QB, but he's still 4th best in the division, and his receiving corps totally sucks, regardless of what some experts want to believe. Not one of their receivers could take a job away from any one of our top 5, if Nelson was healthy. On defense, they haven't been tested by a QB who can carve up a defense. It's coming though. Their schedule gets pretty tough as they move along.
The Packers are far and away the best team in this division. Their defense isn't great, but it will hold up enough because of the Packers offense. Possibly the best offense in the NFL. We'll know, as the season goes on. Capable of putting up points against the best defenses in the league, if the game plan is right. They're the division's best by far, and possibly the best team - overall - in the entire league. Anything less than a Super Bowl win, if Rodgers stays healthy, is unacceptable. They're that good.
