Ok football experts... I am in a pool this year where I need to pick one winner each week. I could use your help week one. Who is a guaranteed winner this week? I am debating between NE, GB, or the Cowboys. Who would you take?

All I have to do is pick one team to win week one. No points, just a winner. It's not as easy as it sounds! If you pick right week one, you advance to week two. Last one standing wins the pot at the end. One big upset can wipe a lot of people out.

Is this a league where you can't pick the same team again, if they win? If that's the case, you can't go on just this week, but need to evaluate the string of 17 weeks as to week by week winners, eliminating the team you picked from the list, of potential winners. You can end up having some really difficult choices as the weeks roll on.
If that's the way this pool works, I'd go with the Cowboys, because I'd want the Packers & Pats for down the road, when the choices get tougher.

I tried picking for you, but never posted. I will make this short and try again/ Dolphins over the Redskins Bengals over the Raiders Vikings over the Niners.

Those seem pretty straight forward picks. I think the Dolphin pick would be #1 on my list too. The other two pretty much a toss up as to which would be next in line.

I ended up taking the Packers this week. They better not let me down! I'm usually the board pessimist!

It's going to be an interesting game. I'm anxious to see how well some of the new guys on the roster play. Also, I want to see if there's still any magic between Rodgers & Jones, as well as if Cobb has recovered well enough to be an integral part of the offense.
On defense, my biggest concern is that we have the suspensions. If the Packers can keep the Bears from throwing over the middle for big yardage, it could be an interesting game. Forte is the wild card for the Bears, in my opinion.
I keep thinking about how the Bears addressed defensive issues this past off season. I don't want to see that they did a great job of it. We need to move the ball, get possession in our favor, and put crucial points on the board to win this one.
I still think the Packers are by far, a better team. I just don't like how they play down to the opponents level.

If Burnett cannot play and they play Hyde all game with Ha-Ha at the safety slots the bears will exploit Hyde by the second half. If they are smart run less and pass his way deep more often. Thing is the bears are hurting worse than the Packers for receivers. So it looks like a run a lot with the bears and the packers will have an edge in passing , so i think the Packers win this game.

The pack has a tough time with just about any decent TE. SO add that to the list the bears could win. I just think the packers need to control the clock and St's play.
