It's almost unbelievable that Jordy won't be taking the field for the Packers in their next game. He's been a constant out there, for much of his career to date.
His loss, at this point in the season, could be less of a blow for the entire year as it would have been, if it happened after the season began. At that point, it would haven taken scrambling to find someone not only to replace him on the field, but fill that spot on the roster that would keep our receiver numbers up.
Cobb, Adams, & Montgomery (or anyone else who could be #3), isn't nearly as menacing as Cobb, Adams, & Nelson. In fact, it's not even a threat without Nelson, since he was Aaron's "go to guy." He has to find someone else who he can trust as much, to be on the same page when he scrambles, as Jordy has been.
Add to this, the fact that we just plain don't have anyone else who can play left tackle if Bakhtiari goes down, and we have some serious questions on offense. It was obvious that the reason Rodgers came out was because nobody could make a block on the left side, to keep him from getting hit. It was totally unacceptable, and as far as I'm concerned, a complete washout with everyone who played there yesterday. The were owned by even third stringers on the Steelers defense.
The Packers well oiled offense now has some serious problems for the season. How will they address these issues? Obviously Janis got a lot of playing time yesterday, and he did decent, but doesn't quite have the hands needed. Montgomery is still learning routes, and quite frankly, doesn't look like he's ready to spend any time on the field as a wide out. White? Dump him. The guy just can't get his head wrapped around his duties as a receiver, or on special teams for that matter. All of a sudden, Abbs is beginning to look like he might hang on, if he can show good hands, because after Cobb & Adams, I am not convinced anyone has been that good.
Our defnese? I know some people will tell me they played well, but in all conscience, I can't agree. When our first team gets beaten by Steeler hopefuls, regularly, I'm not that optimistic. Call me a skeptic if you want, but I'm not even convinced this team can win the division championship. They're going to have to show me more than they did.
As for Guion, and the guys we call our best defensive linemen, don't get to excited about what you saw yesterday. They were good against Steeler wannabes, who probably won't evne make the team.
