In a low level announcement, the Bears traded OT Ryan Groy to the Pats. I believe Ryan has enough talent to end up being a decent player in the NFL, if given the opportunity. On a special note, my ex-protegee, who is now a cop here in the area, has been going out with Ryan's sister for the last four years, and they will probably end up getting married. I've had a chance to meet Ryan, and he's a hard working young man who puts team ahead of self, and did so while a member of the Wisconsin Badgers football team. Not only was he a fantastic offensive lineman, he cared about others, and community. During his Senior year, when others were enjoying a few days away from football, Ryan stepped up and used his celebrity to raise enough money, and get enough food products into a food pantry to help others. When he was done, he enlisted other players on the team to work with him in getting food and other essentials for a homeless shelter. In neither case was it a school mandated program. This is just what he did, because he felt it was something that players who were as lucky as him, owed it to their communities. It's kids like this that can give the NFL a good reputation.
