It's another one of those cases where these guys think they're above the law. They can do anything they want because they are "heroes." That's not only his fault, but the fault of fans, and teams, who place them on pedestals.
It's sad, because so many of them lose sight of who they really should be.

hes getting 20 years in prison on a plea deal. he'll serve the full 20 in Louisiana as they have very very strict laws on sentencing. it'll be 2035 before he gets out.

Parole is possible after 1/3 of a sentence with one conviction. If it's a second conviction, 1/2 of the sentence. There is no parole if it's a 3rd felony conviction.
They are combining all of the charges and he will do about 9 years, and be eligible for parole. The reason is that he has spent time incarcerated in California for the charges there. It will all be concurrent, and in nine years, he'll more than likely be granted parole.

That seems like an awfully light sentence for what he did.

Agreed. They wanted to get it over with, and not spend a lot of time with extraditions and additional trials. I think he should have gotten 20 to life, which would mean he wouldn't even be eligible for review for parole for 20 years.

i would have given him 40 years at minimum. its my understanding that the 9 years covers the crimes in 3 of the states, but he was sentenced to the full 20 in Louisiana. so 9 years in fed prison, 11 more in state prison.

if he does get the 9 years served together from each state, he is able to apply for parole in just 41/2 years.

All of his convictions and nolo contendre pleas are not consecutive, but being dealt with as concurrent.
