Well now the Packers are really short at DB, Williams signed a 3 year deal with the Browns. we do not have much depth or top talent remaining now.

Unproven...but talent is there in the top 2 guys. Interesting though how well they have done with guys like Tramon and Shields...both undrafted guys.
Wish Tramon the best...had a nice classy message on his exit today too. 3 years $7mil was just more than GB was going to give...and can't blame them there.
Now it does create that need. Id expect some movement on Raji and Guion. To move DT to a later draft pick rather than an earlier need.
Time for Hayward and Goodson to step up...Hyde to improve in that hybrid role...

It is impressive how Packer players who are leaving do so with no regrets but a lot of respect for the organization, and the fans. Tramon's statement fortifies what Hawk said.
A two year deal is a good one for him. He has a chance to play two years in a system suited to his skills, and if he does it well, he could pull another two years for even more money.
As far as the Packers are concerned, they need to continuously bring in new talent to replace guys who have gotten older. That's the case here, with Williams, just like it was with Hawk. Time to "move on." It';s time to lower the age level of the team, just like Thompson did from day one. It's no longer "the youngest team in the league." I'll never knock them for trying to achieve that without lowering the talent level.
I think we may have the people we need, in house, to fill this gap. It is time for those still there to step up.

we have Shields, Hyde, Hayward, then only Goodson who played at all in the system. I think they draft one or maybe two DB's this year. The field is thin at the draft, Maybe they trade the number one back and get a couple extra picks around the late second and early third rounds? I think that maybe Richardson could play DB instead of a safety, but his mid body flex is at question. but i really still like him with his size speed and good hands,

I'm anxious to see what we get in regards to added picks this year. I think the NFL has been too cheap in the level of picks.
The theory that a guy drafted late, or a free agent that develops into a solid player only counts as a lower player, despite the amount of money they sign for is crazy. The true value of the player is in what someone is willing to pay for them. That's the criteria they should use, no other, to determine the player values.
