The weekend showed some other interesting things.
One we have seen first hand with the Packers. TEams with high priced QBs that take up so much of the cap have to rely on other cheaper talent and guys still on cheaper or rookie contracts. NE was one of the youngest teams out there...they relied a lot on cheaper players because of Tom's contract. Its why it looks like he has no weapons out there once they lost Gronkowski. They also screwed the pooch big time in letting Welker go, then giving more money to Amendola. Could have kept Welker cheaper.
Even more with NE...look what happened once Talib went down. Manning was already doing well...but he just picked them apart. Kept going at the younger lesser experienced guys at corner because their main threat at corner was not there.
SF and Seattle are still getting the cheap labor out of their QBs and several other players. Seattle has I think another year til some of their guys start coming up for new contracts. Could see if they win it all this year...that some of them get $$$ in their eyes and hold out for a bigger contract.
Will be huge for them to pick the right core guys to keep and who they have to let walk after the next couple of years.
