Our Son, who has been serving in Afghanistan, is on his way home with his unit. They have moved to Kandahar Air base in Afghanistan, and will be leaving for Manas, Kyrgyzstan, by air, in no more than a few days. From there, they fly back to the US!!!!
We are happy beyond words, and will keep all the soldiers serving in our prayers.

As they made their way to Kandahar, their unit was under rocket attack. They were able to kill the bastards who were firing them.
I guess that's what happens when your unit has the reputation of being the one that has dealt out the most punishment to them over the last year. You want to "pretend" you're in it against them, but they aren't. They're the ones who are dead!
It's too bad that country is going to go to hell as soon as we leave there in 2014, but it will.
There is one thing though. Even the Taliban doesn't want any terrorists associated with them that would attack the US, or US interests. They don't want us, and our drones back, pounding the piss out of them.

it seems like their finally getting a sense of the american purpose over there that its Operation Endure Freedom. Glad they could take care of business in Kandahar to ensure their safe trip home!

My Son, and his unit, are back at Ft. Lewis, WA, and settling back in.
Most of them are still trying to sort out what they've been through, but that takes a little time.
Now we have to continue supporting all Americans serving in harms way, around the world.

How's your son doing TW? Any updates? Glad to hear he's back and hopefully he won't be going back.

He's doing great. He went to Austin, TX, on leave. He's planning on coming up to Wisconsin to visit us in June.
He needs surgery for a knee injury that happened in Afghanistan. That will be towards the end of May, and he is supposed to take a 30 day convalescent leave to recover. He's going to spend part of that leave here with us.
He's not reenlisting. He's getting out next April, and going back to Texas, where he wants to live. Hopefully we'll be spending winters down there real soon, and can enjoy visiting him and #1 son, who lives in the Austin area as well.
