Its a traffic violation: Is he going to apologize for running the stop sign too? Another example of political correctness run amuck.

I'm referring to his DUI. That's been the kiss of death politically for a lot of people, because they sit there and try to weasel out of the responsibility for their actions.
If it was a Dem, you'd be screaming that he needed to resign.

True, and attack his character.

I don't know too many people who can honestly say they've never had too much to drink. I've met Mormons who can't make that claim, Amish, and Mennonites. It happens, plain and simple, because it's an available vice, and technically not illegal.
When I was a Cop, I could have written one DUI after another, but it was a different era, and we made sure people got home safely, and would pick their cars up the following day. There wasn't the push against it like exists today.
Had their been a push, we would have reached the level of stigma a long time ago, and it would probably be just as bad.
The problem is, way too many people are short-sighted on this issue. They conveniently forget that at one time or another, they themselves may have driven impaired. By using the "witch hunt" approach, they appear to be innocent of any previous transgression themselves.
But, over the years, I've found that those that protest way too much are trying to hide something... and I figure I know what it is, when it comes to this one.
