If our troops can live in make shift tent cities etc while serving our country, I see no reason why those who wish to serve in Congress can't live in a dorm like setting and have meals provided to them via a cafeteria; all provided for by taxpayers. Senators and Reps can live on a monthly stipend with enough money to keep their home in the Districts they reside in afloat. If their housing needs exceed the monthly stipend, they forfeit their seats.

I don't begrudge members of Congress making a living. What I do begrudge them is their outlandish retirement program, with health insurance guarantees, and the fact that they turn their positions into one that sets them up in a lobby after they leave office.
Remember, lobbies aren't always left or right agendas, but often foreign business and government involved.
