Wasted Spending!

I spent 4 days in Tampa Bay last week and I stayed right across the street from where the Tampa Bay Lightning play, home of the republican national convention. Two of us stopped into the pro shop to look for souvenirs and asked if they gave tours. We were told to go around to Gate B and since we are out of town someone from security might be willing to but no guarantees.

We did and met a very nice guy that is in charge of security. He only had time to give us a quick one but it was very nice of him regardless. Beautiful building by the way!

He took us down to the ice and showed us the "bowl" and let us take some pictures. We asked him what it was like hosting the convention this fall. He said it was like nothing he's ever seen!

The secret service completely took over 3 months in advance. They also hired a private security company to come in and they literally searched every square inch of the entire building.

He went on to explain that they rebuilt everything inside the entire building and put up walls, hand built the stage etc. He said could not even recognize it. The stage was a masterpiece that was hand built and with detailed woodworking and even stained by hand. He heard the entire cost totaled around $60 million. He said don't quote me on that but that's what he was told.

The day after the convention was over, they brought in huge equipment and destroyed everything and tossed it all. He said he was absolutely sick to his stomach with the waste. He asked if he could save the nice wood from the stage and donate it to a church or school and they said no way, they didn't care, it had to go. It was about getting it done fast not about the money.

I'm sure the democratic convention was the same way. It's a shame that our country has come to this, but for some money is no object and people don't care about the next guy. It's all about ME. No wonder we are trillions in debt as a nation.

This isn't about republicans or democrats, its about waste.

This is what politics has become. People are no longer the issue, it's all about agendas. Cost means nothing, and the aftermath is unimportant.

you would think after spending that much money that the stage etc could be donated to a school or something instead od destroying it
frankly concentions are pointless in this day and age. they're scripted and theres no suspenmse as to who the nominee is, we know who it is months in advance. of course spemding buckets of money is what bigtimwe politics is all abouity. how much was spent on the Presidential race? 3 bilion/ we need spending limits and public financing real bad.in the carter-Ford race both of them were limited to 35 million in public financing. things are more expensive now, so lets say 200 million max for president
