So, where does the GOP go from here? This article points them in a direction they should consider. But, as we all know, they won't.
There are too many righties obsessed with their hatred of minorities, and fear that whitey will become a minority in the future, that they don't realize that when you can't beat them, you better learn to live with them, because they are part of society.
This would be a start, but it needs to go even deeper, as they do more than trot out Jindal as being "non-white," and Rubio as being "Hispanic." These two may have different tints to their skin, but they are pretty much mainline white bread society in their attitudes. There is no real connection with their heritages, except possibly liking a few ethnic foods, and speaking another language other than English.
Want to change the GOP, for real? Get new leadership, and make sure it's moderate conservatives. Don't let the tea party, or any other splinter group tear you apart through fear tactics. Then, court those who are considered in the independent classification, leaning both left and right. People who see things from a moderate view in both directions, like I do. My vote can go either way, depending on how the candidates present their case, and that's not done for us through negative ads, it's done by putting "facts" on the table, with a specified plan of action to address it. Something both parties seem to think is no longer necessary - but it is.
