Cheney needs to relax as he was part of the problem. I disagree that McCains choice of Palin was a bad one. This needs to be put into context. This is 2008. Most conservatives are ashamed to vote Republican, 8 years of Bush fatigue set in. The choice of Palin electrified the base. The media was sexist in the weay it treated Sarah Palin, many of the stories disgusting and Obama was never truly vetted. Would Palin be able to lead this nation if McCain was ever incapacitated, no, and I agree with Cheney on that point, but Cheney and the Republican establishment painted McCain into a loseing battle before it even started; McCain did a hail mary and, as is true in most hail mary passes, the campaign failed. Cheney acts as if the reason Republicans are not in the WH is bcause of McCain and his choice of Palin.

Man.... even McCain has stated that Palin was forced on him by the leadership of the party. He didn't want her there, but they told him she needed to be on the ticket, to have a chance to win.
She was added strictly to pander to votes, and it backfired.
Cheney has always been a loose cannon. It's what he does best.

Agreed, it was about pandering for votes. But honestly, that's really the only chance Republicans had given the mood of the country.
Any Republican running that year would have been screwed.
