What is the purpose of having the purchase of an A-15 legal in American society?
I agree EVERY American has the right to guns to defend themselves, but the very name of this gun implies that it isn't for self-defense.

It's one of those many "quirks" in how laws are passed. Also, how gun manufacturers skirt the law.
With modifications, an AR-15 can nearly be a totally automatic rifle.
It's a real reach to consider this a "hunting rifle" by anyone's standard to be honest.

The only reason anyone would support that gun is to say that eventually, the ciitzens of America are going to come into conflict with it's government and somwhere in the Consitution, it protects the rights of citizens to posess those guns to keep the government honest, or at the very least, keep things even when war break out.
Are things that contentious?

I think we're fine, but the many militias around the US say differently.
Of course, I figure they're really nut cases, and conspiracy theorists. They use anything to create a conspiracy.

I do believe you can buy a kit in Canada and IN U.S. that will convert the smi to a full automatic. besides the many today the semi is a light touch to the trigger and you can pull them off almost as fast. but i read where they tend to jam by using the manually pulled trigger over the auto devise.
