Would You Support Mandatory Military Service?

Following turning the age of 18, would you support that an American citizen serve two years of mandatory, active military service or pay a penalty annually for not doing so unless you have a medical condition.

No. This isn't Israel. We aren't in a constant state of war.

Then there's the cost factor. It would turn the military budget into an even worse nightmare.

very tough queston, but in todays world i would say no. Having people that do not want to serve many more would be out in 2 and that would make for a more costly military and effective one. what is going to happen when the job market gets much better?(if ever) many join to get trained and because there are no jobs so the armed forces gives them room and board along with training. to many are not loyal Americans lots of reasons now to not draft or mandate 2 years of 'service' let the vols keep this country safe and pray that we get enough to continue to preserve our countrys freedom.

For Republicans and the wealthiest 1% so that they may better understand the lives that they send to fight their wars and make them soooooo much money and hopefully, be more receptive and determined to protect the US soldiers needs and demands before, doing and after serving in the US military.

so the wealthy must serve, then like Bush he will use his power and money to be stationed in the USA, or some desk job in the world. as long as money matters they will never serve unless they themselves want to.
