Maine's Governor Paul LePage remark regarding the expansion of the IRS and comparing the IRS to the Gestapo.
"This tax will add to the $500 billion in tax increases that are already in Obamacare. Now that Congress can use the taxation power of the federal government to compel behavior or lack thereof, what’s next? More taxes if we don’t drive Toyota Priuses or if we eat too much junk food or maybe even pea soup??"
The very same sentiment was expressed by moi and I agree with the Govenror and Americans should be concerned.
Congress created the condition, through Obamacare, of taxing behavior that isn't in line with what the govenrment desires when Central Planning puts forth for their socially engineered agenda.
I'm not bitching about the left doing this because they obviously already are.
What happens when the Republicans get into power and they start asserting alot of their agenda under the same mentality and premise..
Many critics have stated that the SCOTUS decision opened up a whole new avenue of power for Congress.
It's too much power being centralized and I do fear for rugged indvidualism and the American dream. This is no longer a blue or red issue, this is a fight for the very soul of this nation.

as you know, it is the power and greed that is running all these problems. the people have changed so much in the way they think and feel that only that matters. they will be the downfall of themselves and all others someday, just not now, or near furture. AND THEY DO NOT CARE,

This is no longer a blue or red issue, this is a fight for the very soul of this nation. Now that the Bush tax cuts have been extended soooooo long and the wealthiest 1% is more wealthy then at anytime before, while the remaining 99% are struggling so much more...What's next, taxing the heck out of the 99% so that the wealthiest 1% can have even more wealth. How about forcing unions to end, forcing more employees to make as close to the minimum wage as possible? How about lowering the minimum wage? How about making employees contribute 100% towards social security and giving the majority of social security monies to the wealthiest 1%? How about making employees pay 100% towards their healthcare costs? How about the wealthiest 1% paying the remaining 99%, money to breed so that their children can be sold as slaves to the wealthiest 1%? What about the elderly, the poor, the sick, the disabled...? SCREW EVERYBODY..it is neither the responsibility or fault of the wealthiest 1% IF EVERYBODY is suffering. So what IF the US government provides soooo much to the wealthiest 1%, such as the Bush tax cuts, which are designed to 'trickle down' and help the masses. The bottom line, GREED MUST BE REWARDED at all times. Yup, tis where the US is heading when the wealthiest 1% are allowed to be soooooooo greedy and there are no longer effective checks and balances. In today's political environment, I find the right-wingers who blindly follow along on the tax issue as being very similar to the women whose husbands beat them, and verbally abuse them, and they still tell everyone they love the guy, and couldn't live without him.
Why would anyone who is middle-class feel that protecting the wealthy is important. These are the people that Bush gave a tax cut, and said it would create jobs.
Well, he was right. They did create them. Those jobs just aren't in the US.

Your statement is hypocritical. The only reason Obama extended the tax cut for the wealthy was to allow unemployment to continue for those who lost jobs, and to keep the government running.
Don't give us that crap about how he supported it. It was a compromise to keep the f-ing country from collapsing, and people like my son who is fighting in Afghanistan - his paycheck.
The Republicans would have cut off my son's wages, and done so with their smug assed smiles.

Obama hasn't had an original idea since he was elected and his own words haunt him about having the debt ceiling so high.
You're right, he did extend the tax cuts as part of the debt ceiling agreement, but he, as the President of the United States, did sign the bill.
Comrpomising is the art of agreeing to agree. Therefore, Obama agreed with the tax cuts because it was politically expedient.
You wish to give approval to the Flip-Flopper In Chief to walk away and say yeah, "I signed it into law, but I didn't agree to the deal."

Your argument isn't realistic. Your last statement pointed that out.
I will agree with you that nothing has been done, and a lot of the reason for that is right-wing obstructionism.
I hope that hits the right in the rear in November. We need government that works for the people, not against them.

You admit Obama hasn't done anything, yet 25 percent of Obama's Presidency, his party has had complete control. You want to hand the government back over to these jokers? Your position doens't make sense. You want to toss out the Republicans because they prevent Obama from doing anything and elect Democrats so that nothing can continue not to get done.

I certainly wouldn't hand it back over to the power brokers on the right, who have smugly made their way into points of power with the Republicans.
It's incredible! The right wing won't talk about Bush and what an embarrassment his administration was, but they'd let the same people and their cohorts do it again.
Shame!

If you're a "doer," you seek results through compromise, not through obstructionism.

Economists Explain: Bush Destroyed Our American Dream By Simone Davis November 25, 2007 3,875 soldiers dead and more than 28,000 wounded Americans, plus more than 1,000 private contractors killed and many more injured. The costs of the invasion and occupation seem to have no end. This endless war was the result of a wrong turn. We've been stuck slogging through the results of the mistake for almost five years now. How did all this happen anyway? How did President Bush move our country from a strong dollar, decent gasoline prices, a strong jobs market and a surplus in our national treasury into a situation where now we have the largest trade deficit, biggest national debt, fastest wage reductions, highest gas prices and a declining dollar? As Bush began his takeover of the White House in January 2001, the big debate in Washington was over what to do with a projected budget surplus of $2.2 trillion that President Clinton has left behind. That's over 2.2 trillion dollars. Not billions. The surplus was trillions. Remember? That's where we started. www.everydaycitizen.com/2007/11/his_war_costs_much_more_than_w.htmlAnd yet, PC and the Borg repeatedly EMBRACED, SUPPORTED and VOTED for the Bushwhacker, not ONCE, but TWICE. Without a doubt, the overwhelming majority of Americans DO NOT trust Republicans with neither our economy nor helping the average hard working American make ends meet. Republicans DID NOT learn after EIGHT years of supporting the Bushwhacker and using the US Constitution to wipe their arses with..well, in November, 2012, the Republicans are gonna get an arse whooping to end all arse whoopings. Personally, I would not mind IF Americans went to the homes of elected Republican officials and put their heads on pikes. Perhaps then, Republicans might finally understand what their hateful, evil, selfish and greedy actions have caused hard working Americans to resort to.
