OK......so that you can all see why I am in a PISSY mood..the Packers lose and less then 24 hours later, while on the way to my surgeon's office in Mt. Vernon, VA (15 miles away), I hear lots and lot of backfiring, FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, while driving my 77 Chevy. I just spent $650.00 on my Chevy for a Winter tuneup, a month ago, and DID NOT want to take any chances of continued problems, so I had my car towed to my local mechanic.
Well, this morning my mechanic calls and informs me that the valves may be sticking or the pistons might be causing me some problems...Sooooo, he recommends my buying a Jasper engine (3 year, 70,000 mile warranty), especially since the car is in very, very good condition and needs a little paint work re the previous car accident.
The total costs would be approx. $3200.00.
Since this car belonged to my Grandfather, I wanted to try to restore the vehicle.
Your thoughts.

If the car means a lot to you, the engine investment makes sense.
You could invest ten times that much in a car that you'd use, then discard when it gets older. The Chevy goes up in value every year. Just keep it in top shape, like you have.

Well, I have been looking at the top 10 small and mid-sized sedans, researching reliability, gas mileage, safety (crash/impact) results, price... AND, I have come to the conclusion that instead of looking at Honda Accords and Honda Civics, I can do much, much, much better looking at Cadillacs.

What you should be looking at is a Prius, even though it's Japanese.

That's really up north. Lots of lakes. Lake Vermillion is a big one. Great fishing.

I checked out insurance policies with progressive for auto & home and IF I insure Mary's BMW, a 2008-2010 Honda Civic or Chevrolet Malibu & our home..we will save $600/year over my current policies with Liberty Mutual. These savings will allow us to insure two vehicles for ONLY $ 203/year.

Good luck with that one. We pay much more for our insurance. But, we know it's going to work for us, if anything happens.
We have American Family.

My response to Mary, OF COURSE, was..people from Minnesota need soooooooo many lakes so that they can clean themselves after repeatedly having soooooooo much fun with farm animals. Mary COULD NOT believe that I would say such a thing. I told Mary, tis a Packer vs. Vikings thing. LOL

Actually, Minnesota is called the land of "10,000 lakes," but to Wisconsinites, we know it's really the land of 10,000 potholes.

We also change our underwear every day, Vikings fans, only when they win a Super Bowl! Some stinky bottoms there!
