Yeah sure. Mhmm. Gotcha! You bet. I hope most of these created jobs lasted longer than five weeks.

Is that "full time jobs" with benefits, or more part time jobs with no bennies?
It obviously hasn't done anything to curb runaway unemployment.

I agree with TW. I am not hearing any reports of manufacturing picking up and companies expanding their employment rolls..
This administration is counting jobs that lasted short term as "New Job" creations.
I am a bit cynical of this report.

Yeah sure. Mhmm. Gotcha! You bet. I hope most of these created jobs lasted longer than five weeks. Well, let's see what ARNOLD has to say -- Appearing with Biden Friday, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said the $12.5 billion his state has received so far has created or saved about 100,000 jobs, including 62,000 education positions."Those teachers would have been gone," he said.Other states released data this week that shows the complexity of the reporting. Maryland announced Thursday that recovery funds fueled 4,464 direct positions. Officials also estimate that 1,451 indirect jobs were created or saved, while another 8,167 jobs were created or saved because of increased stimulus-related consumer spending. The state received awards of over $2 billion but spent only 11% of these funds, or $229,200. "There are more than 14,000 Marylanders working today that otherwise would be facing unemployment," said Gov. Martin O'Malley. In Massachusetts, a total of 23,500 residents were working because of the recovery act, said Gov. Deval Patrick on Wednesday. The state reported to the federal government that stimulus accounted for 8,800 full-time direct jobs. The state received about $4 billion in recovery funds. "This report shows that our work is paying off," said Patrick. "Real jobs are being created or saved, real projects are underway and we're making real investment in our long-term economy." money.cnn.com/2009/10/30/news/economy/Stimulus_jobs_created/?postversion=2009103014Once again, either your Borg programming or your rose colored glasses are simply unable to see the truth.

Dude! California is bankrupt!
Alot of the money didn't go to create jobs as it was suppose to. It went to shoring up the budgets of overspending States.
Obama is, once again, changing terminology to point to his pseudo success.
These states should have been forced to cut expenditures instead of bailing them out to continue their high expense ways.

Let's look at those teaching jobs in California. Who steps up for the next school year to cover the tab for these teachers? Will the attrition of retirement soften the blow of lack of money to make a sizable difference?
I question all these statements when they aren't presented with supporting evidence that shows long term gains from what has been done.
The way it's stated is like putting another piece of duct tape on something to keep it from blowing away "now."
