I think you guys are generally right on with your perceptions. It's tough to remember, but Cleveland isn't the up-n-comer they'd like to be. They are an inadequate team this year, and a team we should have looked better than. We did, so at least we can feel reassured that were' at least in the top-half of teams in the league.
I still expect errors on the defense, but I think by the tenth game of the season we'll start to see them take over ball games. Until then, this offense is going to have to be the heart of the team. Score, score, and score some more. They've got the skilled weapons and plenty of them -- USE THEM!!! Early in the season will not be the time for McCarthy to resort to his conservative ways. Throw first and run second. Please!
Buffalo is one of those up-n-comers. I think this game will provide the best barometer of where this year's version of the Packers really is. The Bills have a talented QB, RB, and WRs. I know very little about their O-Line, but it appeared as though they do their jobs.

Didn't see the game, but I loved the running game stats. Always hard to tell what actually happened without watching, but it appears McCarthy really wants to work on the ground game during the pre-season and that's great.

Actually, I think the 3rd game will be the best barometer. Arizona is a very solid team, and both squads will likely play their starters for at least a half, and probably a series or two in the 3rd quarter. I think that will be a good measuring stick game.

I initially thought the same thing, but they were so hit-n-miss last year that I really could say they'd be up for this game. Your point is valid though. To see what kind of pressure this 3-4 can get on a QB with the quick read and release of Kurt Warner will be quite interesting. I tend to think Buffalo's going to be as good (I really want to say better) than AZ this season, but I think we match-up better against AZ than Buffalo. Our great secondary against their great WRs. I think the strength of the Packer offense should have a fairly strong edge compared to the Cardinal defense. I believe Buffalo's D matches up better with our offensive firepower. Just a thought. Maybe I'm looking too much into things

Miracle, all valid points. Buffalo will be a solid test, though they don't have much of a pass rush so I don't know if we get a great evaluation of our O-line. I was thinking more in terms of seeing something closer to a regular season game without all the early substitutions. It's hard to evaluate what you are really seeing from "the team" when they play legit football for about 2-4 series and then just start throwing guys out there because they need to evaluate "individuals". You get penalties, breakdowns and all sorts of other stuff. You can evaluate individual players, but it's hard to know what you've got as a team.
That's why I generally like the 3rd pre-season game, especially if it's against a solid opponent. Both teams generally play about 2.5-3 quarters of normal football. Starters against starters with close to normal regular season substitution patterns. (Unless of course a whole bunch of guys are being held out due to injury.) AZ may well be down this year since it's the curse of Super Bowl losers, but I just like the flow of those 3rd pre-season games better than the others.

We don't have it easy ever in the NFL, but if we had the chance to make the last four games our first four...I wouldn't do it. We have a real shot of being at 10-1 to I think at least 8-3 by week 12. That will put us in a good position. I actually see our schedule being very similar to the 2007 schedule. All of the really hard a games come at the end.
