I'm still looking into adopting a dog. No longer thinking about a minature schnauzer. Now I'm serious about a Lakeland Terrier. I'm hoping to visit a breeder this weekend.
Believe it or not I already have a name picked out. At first I had thought about calling my future pup, Packer. Probably won't go that route because I'm also a Brewer fan.
After visiting the Harley museum last week I've decided to go with Harley. It would fit a boy or girl.
What are the names of your pets; past, present, future. Why did you pick the name?

My family raises Siberian Huskies. When I was in my early teens, we raised our first Siberian Husky and named her Lady. The name was fitting since we lived in a court -- Lady of the Court. Yup, I grew up on knights and fair maidens.

My first dog was Teddy. I don't know where I got that name. It was 1944 or '45.
#2 was Timmy. I don't know where I got that name either.
#3 was Chips. I'm not certain where that came from either. He was the son of my cousin's dog, Taffy. I think the cousin and his parents may have named him before we got him.
The latest, which was about #7 was Chips. He looked just like #3 did, a beautiful honey brown cocker spaniel.
That was the last one.
The last cat was Charlie. Charlie and Chips are our two last memories of pets. They'll always be in our minds.

My current dog is Vince the Vizsla or as my girls call him Vince Lombardi.
My other dog that died a few months ago was Kale a Weimaraner. If you have noticed any Weims in commercials, especially those in and around WI, those are my dogs pups. Great looking dog and was asked to show her a number of times but I hunt and I wasn't going to send my pet away from the family.

Boomer is always a good name for a bigger male dog. Snoopey is always a good one for a small male dog. Here is a good photo of a Fran dog.

Today I'll be taking a drive to visit sisters of what could be my potential dog. It's almost a 2 hour drive but it's the closest breeder to my house.
Still liking the name "Harley." I had waffled back to "Packer" but realized that could really be hard on a dog. So much yelling on game day and so many items in this house labeled Packer. It might drive him crazy. Somewhat like us fans.

Just remember dogs respond better to shorter names you can call a dog Dottie but in training it you could call it Dot. It's like the old saying goes keep it simple stupid don't confuse the dog by a big name.

Good advice. No longer then 2 syllables. My name is one syllable. Everyone asks is that short for.... Drives me crazy.

Returned from the road trip to check out the Lakeland terrier. What a beautiful dog. I fell in love with a 4 month old pup. I'll be deciding in a day or two but I'm 95% sure it's a go. My godson told me he would help me pick up "poop" in the backyard.

My all-time fave for a dog is $hit Head. I love The Jerk. My grandma had a cocker named Tobey, I liked that name too.
Growing up we had
Patches-Beagle(my dad absolutely hated this dog) Tandy-Golden Retriever Honey Bear or Bear-Pomeranian Cheyenne-Boxer Haven't had a dog for around 15 years. I don't really need one.
I would never get a dog now out of respect for my cat.
My neighbors across the street have a German Shepard named "Yogi", he is still really young but very well behaved. If I ever had a Shepard I might name him Archie. Add that to the list.

Pet names always seem to just "come" when you meet them. We had a mutt who was a terrier/collie mix; she had white base fur with big honey-coloured splotches. We named her Honey, and I know you won't believe me, but it worked. It didn't sound as stupid as it does now that I'm typing it out to you all. My current dog is Ramsay, which came from the surname of my favourite character in my favourite book. BTW, that pup is fantastic! OBB

My dad got us a Dog when we were little... He was in the bag when he got it and he named it "DOG"
"DOG" must not have liked the name as he ran away about three - four weeks later....
I had a classmate in Junior High that named his dog "d**n-it"
We had two Wolf / Shepard mixes that were named Tippy and Tillie
